Surprisingly effective for such an easy listen
I felt like I learned so much by not even trying. By being patient and allowing yourself to forget you end up learning so much by the end. After the book I recommend learning more vocabulary to practice with the sentence structure and pronunciation learnt here. That is the perfect combo for learning a language.

by far the best way to learn
Paul's unique way of teaching is a huge leap forward. As someone who is dyslexic, I can now speak many words and put sentences together which is a miracle in my eyes. There are two native speakers who repeat the words and sentences throughout so you feel confident what you need to say and how to pronounce is correct. Your asked to repeat the word/sentence, there is a pause, long enough to think and articulate the word. The native speakers, one female and one male from the North and South of China repeat the word. Paul will gently ask you what was the word again which repeats a word while learning a new one. I have a Chinese work colleague who praised my pronunciation. bearing in mind, I had been learning mandarin for 3 weeks at that point. So, this course is genuinely perfect.

After 10 years trying..at last a book that works
I have tried different books, systems, audiobooks, you name it. Paul Noble's style is fabulous and engaging. Strainght to work! Highly recommended!

Really good.
I'm a van driver, so I spend a lot of my time out on the road, so I wanted to make use of this time productively. I therefore thought I'd give this book a go, as I purchased it a few years back but wasn't in the right mind set to finish it. I've completed it a couple of times now and I'm impressed. It works by showing building up words and logic of the language, changing where words go in order to help you understand.
I'm surprised by how much has gone into my brain already, giving me a good spring board to learn more Chinese, and giving me confidence to try and formulate sentences for myself.
A few words to the wise, unless you're serious about learning Chinese, don't bother, it's an intense course and not something that's half hearted, you need the right attitude to immerse yourself in this.
Minor criticisms is that the bloke does talk to you like you're 5 years old, and sometimes I'll find myself making a loose fist and moving it up and down when he says some of the things, but I totally understand why. Also, if you are driving whilst you're tired, don't listen to it because you'll cause a pile up. Overall though, very very good.

Get this!
I can speak basic Chinese after listening to this. If you want to start speaking and grasping Chinese fast, I can recommend this. The tones section is great. My Chinese friends are amazed
