Summary

A 10-year-old's new home on an exotic Caribbean island proves so fascinating she quickly forgets she didn't want to leave Texas. After all, where better than a jungle world teeming with voodoo, mystery, and a really pesky zombie, to indulge her favorite pastime: snooping.

In this humorous mystery, award-winning author Jinx Schwartz transports the listener to another time and place where rivers, and little girls, ran wild and free.

Fantastic story - a 'Huckleberry Finn' for girls

This was the first audiobook I've ever purchased and I'm addicted now. It was a wonderful tale, with lovable, relatable characters - I especially loved the relationship between Lizbuthan and Do-do - she was hilarious. The wild adventures of Lizbuthan totally transported me. This book is a modern classic - like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, but for girls. I'm very sad that I finished it! Waiting for a sequel.

Wow...just wow! I’d give this all 6/5 if I could.

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would jump at the chance to listen to another. I barely stopped laughing at the beginning of this book. Her level of understanding and perspective was typical young, inquisitive kid without a filter. Her opinions are influenced by the time and level of society she is born into. I like how we are taken through several years of this young girls life. This is definitely an entertaining, witty, amusing story that I did not want to put down until I was at the end. This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( April Doty ) and I would listen to another- for sure!! What an awesome performance. She embodies the main character and draws out the personalities and quirks of all the characters. I was totally drawn into the story and was able to forget I was being read to- sign of a fantastic narrator. There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing (that I recall). I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review. Please feel free to comment on whether you found my review helpful.
