About this listen

Why must a widow newly emerged from mourning be invited to every wedding in the realm?

Lady Violet Belmaine ponders that conundrum while traveling from London to rural Scotland at the invitation of an old friend. Escorted by her dashing physician friend, Hugh St. Sevier, Violet prepares to again subject herself to a nuptial celebration—except that the groom fails to appear.

Matters become more interesting when Violet discovers that Sebastian MacHeath is laird of the nearest castle and well acquainted with the bride and her family. Mysterious cousins, surly neighbors, and appearances much at variance with the facts all confound Violet’s efforts to find the missing groom, as well as any designs she might have on her handsome escort!

This is the third in the series I have listened to and without giving anything away it was a great listen. The narrator is excellent and the story is good, good enough to get the next in the series!

The title spoilt it a little…. But did it?

This story was really quite complex and complicated, tangled with good intentions! Really well told (and narrated) and misleading with the number of red herrings cleverly strewn throughout!

Then there’s the love triangle between England and, Scotland and France…!

I enjoyed another one in series but I find the narrators pronunciation strange and slightly irritating

I enjoyed the heroine's breezy style and her lover was delicious. An unusual plot and a satisfying outcome. The narrator did well for an American.

Enjoyable
