Spellbinding

Lacks pace or characters with any emotional connection to the reader. Stuck it through to the end but was glad to move onto something else.

Really enjoyed learning about this period in history. The story kept moving and was well crafted. My only criticism would be that some elements of the story are a bit clichéd (particularly Alice's circumstances and history) to keep the plot together.

I love Kate Mosse but this story feels like it goes on forever. Sometimes sentimental. Sometimes purely mawkish. The story is great and the characters are fascinating but the editor needed to get her red pen out. Not a patch on ‘Citadel’.

...but a little too supernatural for my taste. Still I will try out the author's other books as I like the setting and the research the author puts into her work.
