Suspenseful Romance

I have enjoyed every book written by Lindzee! This new suspenseful romance series is excellent with unexpected twists and turns. I really enjoyed book 1 in this series and book 2 is just as great.

Narration is well done and brings the story to life.

The characters are well developed and interesting. Layla’s life seems perfect but things start crumbling down when she comes home. Tyler decides to make a huge leap of faith and goes after what he wants.

Lindzee’s stories are well written and clean. They are appropriate for any age group. I’m looking forward to book 3.

I loved the narrator - I thought she did a fantastic job and brought the story to life. I hope there’s a book three in this series!

A cute story for those in their 20s

This was a cute story with some angst geared more for the younger crowd. Tyler, a young man, moves his life to be closer to the girl he met and fell in love in Europe to find out that she's been forced into a surprise engagement to a rich man in order to safe Layla's family business. An engagement neither Grant or Layla wants. Where does that leave Tyler? Even Grant is surprised with the engagement. A man that is still in love with his ex.
Will Tyler and Layla find their HEA or will "saving " the family dynasty hinder their happiness?

Second chance at love with a little mystery

4.5 stars for this romance with a hint of mystery.
We met Layla and Tyler in Kiss Me in the Moonlight. Layla was really into Tyler while chaperoning teens in Europe during the summer, but Tyler was shy and left Europe without even kissing her. Layla returns home to South Carolina from a summer in Europe to find that her family may lose their business Cypress Grove, the tobacco plantation, and their home on the property unless she dates Grant, the son of a local businessman willing to invest in Cypress Grove. Of course this is when Tyler arrives in town taking a job as a bartender at Cypress Grove. He's worked up the courage to withdraw from the Master's program, use his student loans to buy a house to flip, and finally tell Layla how he feels about her.

When Layla becomes the unpaid event coordinator at Cypress Grove she notices some discrepancies in the books and work orders, and she enlists Tyler's help in her search for answers. While working together to try to figure why Cypress Grove is losing money even though they're booked solid for a year and their services aren't cheap, Layla and Tyler fight their growing attraction. They have to, because it doesn't matter if her engagement to Grant Davenport is all for show, keeping her family's livelihood and home depend on it.

I really liked Layla and Tyler, and we find out more about Tyler's background. I also liked the character of Grant Davenport, he was basically a good guy who just needed to stand up to his conniving father. I didn't care for Layla's father, Drew, from the beginning. What kind of father puts the burden of saving the family's home and business on his daughter's shoulders and keeps agreeing to things without giving her a heads up? I liked the way the story ended--not a perfect ending for everyone but a great one for Layla and Tyler.

I liked the narrator and thought she did a great job with the southern accents.

Romantic suspense

I will not summarize this story because it was already given in the description of this book and I do not want to give any of the plot away. The purpose of this review is to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading/listening to this book.

What engaged me in this story:

• The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story with how Layla's parents wanted Layla to solve their financial problems by sacrificing herself. You will have to listen to the book to find out what she was asked to do.
• Tyler and Layla were characters that you wanted to discover more about as you listened to their story.
• The minor players in this story added depth to the storyline. The characters were well developed.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• There were twists and turns to the plot.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• The transfer between Tyler's and Layla's viewpoint in the story was very smooth. So smooth, I did not consciously register the changes.
• This story had a satisfying ending.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters' voices. She did an amazing job. She had a pleasant voice to listen to.
• This was a clean story.

I was given a free audiobook by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for books narrated by Karly Hutchins.
