Story
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Story
Brie would do anything before making a deal with the Fae; death is better than their vicious schemes. But when her sister is taken by the sadistic king of the Unseelie court, there is nothing Brie wouldn't do to get her back - including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the rival Seelie court. Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie's only choice is to pose as a potential bride for the Seelie Prince, Ronan - a prince who's not quite as wicked as she once thought.

Summary
One sister. Two sinful princes. Infinite deception with a side of revenge.... Welcome to Hell.
From the number one New York Times best-selling author Kerri Maniscalco comes the sizzling and sweepingly romantic sequel to Kingdom of the Wicked.
With the enigmatic Prince of Wrath at her side, Emilia sold her soul to become Queen of the Wicked and travelled to the Seven Circles to fulfil her vow of avenging her beloved sister.
But the first rule in the court of the Wicked? Trust no one. And it quickly becomes clear that nothing in Hell is what it seems. Even Wrath, her onetime ally, may be keeping secrets about his true nature. But that suits Emilia just fine - she's got secrets of her own.
Faced with backstabbing courtiers, princes who delight in fear, luxurious palaces, dazzling galas, and conflicting clues about what truly happened to her sister, Emilia finds herself on a mission to unlock the mysteries of her own past and uncover the answers she craves.
As long as her sins don't catch up to her first....

Confusing and boring at the same time
I absolutely loved the first book, but this was quite dreadful. Wrath really is the only good thing about this book. Emilia is eye-rolling in the utmost, the plot is basically non existent for most of the book but confusing when it does get going. The narrators performance is fine, good in parts, but the book is really quite dreadful.

4-, the second one is MORE intriguing and exciting
The second book is much more fun and exciting to read than the first one. I still think that some worldbuilding details need more fleshing out as well as the reasons the heroes don't want to be together (they still don't persuade me as much) even if they like each other.
The story is clichéd in many ways yet YA sexy fantasy tends to be and also to overthrow said clichés. This is the reason why the series doesn't get a 5 star from me. I'd expect more subversion of tropes than just recycling the same old.

As dangerous as a housecat
Now, the performance is flawless. I love it. The story however… the mere fact that she is so naive and yet thinks of herself as this mighty powerfully thing is annoying. I wanted to love her, but listening to her plotting her “revenge” is like seeing into the mind of a housecat thinking it is a tiger.. so much of this book was wasted pondering and wondering and plotting, while the last 20 pages FINALLY yielded something. It took me such a long time to finish it.. which is a shame, since the plot in itself has so much potential!

Smutty but good.
The storyline and premise itself is brilliant however I don't know why ya authors feel they have to put so much smut in a book to make it good. It could have been better without the smut. Leave stuff to the imagination of the readers. Was going to pass this book onto my daughter along with the 1st one.... Now not possible as its too old because of the smut. Bring back good old fashioned romance without the intimate sex details so we can think of it for ourselves!!

Great continuation
I absolutely hated KOTW but I don’t have it in me to dnf a series. Honestly happy I gave book 2 a chance.
The plot definitely strayed a few times but this book was really good and enjoyable otherwise. Very excited to see where the series goes from here.
