This is a real ?Boys? Own Adventure? with heroes and villains, battles and treasure but no kissing! The language is a little dated but if one accepts it for what it is, a tale from the days of the British Empire, it is not cringe worthy. Despite having an East Coast of America accent, Jack Sondericker narrates this superbly. There are ?noises off? as pages are turned but it almost adds to the effect of having this read to one by a favourite great uncle, sitting in a big leather chair by a roaring fire. I very much enjoyed this utterly uncomplicated book but, and I am sorry for being a bit sexist here, would recommend it more to the chaps than the girls! At the price, it is superb value.
