Summary

Homeless. Hungry. Desperate. Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from. A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don't want to cross unless you're prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, sex, or a combination of all three. King's future hangs in the balance. Doe's is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.

Awesome. Loved it x

Loved this book almost, but not quite, as much as the first book! The storyline continues where book 1, KING, finished. It follows Doe and King, as Doe finally begins piecing together her forgotten past, and is again told in dual POV, my most favourite. I loved Doe and King, loved heir relationship, loved their strengths and loved that they love each other despite all their faults. This book is so full of passion, anger, violence, intrigue, along with plot twists I just didn't see coming. A hell of a roller coaster ride. So good to finally put all the pieces together. A full five well deserved stars. So glad that TM Frazier is writing a spin off story, Bear, so can't wait to hear his story.

Surprisely good!!

I quite enjoyed this book, it was suspenseful, sad and shocking at times! Really good levels of realistic humour, prepy was my favourite character, with great one liner!
I think this book is worth a read, it's kinda Son of Anarchy meets shade but better!

Pleasently surprised

Didn't know what to expect buy really liked this book. My favourite character King is flawed, raw, intense passionate but totally engaging. Looked forward to the next installment.

Holy moly!

I’ve read the ebook of this, but hearing it was so much better! I love this story so much. The male narrators voice is just beautiful. So gravelly. Cried like a baby on “that” part.

Great to lose yourself in

This book was recommended by a friend who has similar tastes in books, she's been pushing me to read some of these for ages but I just haven't had time to read any between review books. So when she sent me a copy via audible I knew I had no excuse. Its taken me a little while to get though this one, not through any fault of the author, just life getting in the way.. and whilst I didn't feel the need to hurry back to it during the first half of the book, the second half really grabbed my attention and I listened to it in one afternoon completely hooked.

Honestly, for the most part I didn't like King, then I warmed to him and then, while I understand some of his reasonings towards the end of the book I really didn't like him then, although I did feel sorry for him. And I felt Doe was far too forgiving of him, it seems the minute she got horny she forget all about how much of an A-hole he was to her just to satisfy her needs... but then she would pull back and say she owed it to her other self to wait... And all that being said, I rather liked them together.

And that ending..... someone pass me the next book in the series I need it now.

between unintentionally funny and disgusting

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The author tries to be so desperately edgy that it is funny in between - a little less trying and the writing, which is not bad, would come through better.

What was most disappointing about T. M. Frazier’s story?

I like a good antihero but I simply cannot relate to a character who stands by and glorifies rape. When later the female lead comes on the stage all I want to do is tell the female character to bloody well get away from him and that does not help with any developing romance.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

the narrators were fine

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK WITH A FEW COMPLAINTS

Any additional comments?

First I don't know if this bothers anyoneelse but HOW IN THE MUCK DO YOU CATCH A DUDE YOUR FALLING FOR GETTING A BJ AND THEN HAVE SEX WITH HIM 40 MIN LATER. I hate when women are written this stupid . It may seem silly that it pisses me off but I'm almost done with the book and this stupid shit happens. I was ready for King to say "Look baby Girl, You and this sweet NaNa is MINE BUT NOOOOOO a monkey tool chest had to be thrown into the story.I had to take a break but up until then I was loving this shit. Im sure by the end I will be back in love but damn make these women stronger with back bones.

Wow! Just WOW!

What an AMAZING story! I absolutely LOVED it! However, I'll admit I've had this audio in my library for months, but put off listening to it due to the reviews. I was afraid it would be too dark, and I don't really like books involving teenager girls. (Only because I'm older, relate better to more mature characters, and have a teenage daughter.)

T.M. Frazier did an outstanding job with the romance, suspense, and characters, but I loved the writing the most, and felt the plot and characters were well developed. Frazier strings you along, and keeps you hanging onto each word with all the suspense, and little twist throughout the story. If I was to ever listen to a story twice, this story would definitely be one of them.

While this story is told from Doe's and King's POV, you get to know and fall in love with the other characters in the story.

Molly Glenmore and Rob Shapiro's performance was OUTSTANDING! They really brought this story to life, and made the audio experience 10X's better!

This was not the darkest MC I've listen too; however, it's filled with language, violence, and graphic sex scenes, but well worth the time, credit or sale. I plowed right through books one and two, and will continue on with the rest of the series. If you like dark MC romances, this is one you do not want to pass up. It is sure to evoke many emotions! I'm definitely recommending this story to my friends!

BE PREPARED... VERY PREPARED AS IT'S AN EPIC RIDE

Firstly, if you'd asked me at the start of this listen what my opinion was then I would have said awful 1 star raw, gritty, toxic, dark and downright violent. But, slowly, as I got caught up in this well described story, I became emotionally invested in the characters, their back-stories, their dilemmas, the dynamics and the non-stop continual hit to my senses and I knew it was going to be a train wreck.... but I just couldn't walk away.

Now I've listened to a lot of Alpha books.... but NOTHING, absolutely nothing, could have prepared me for King who was way... way... waaay past a mere Alpha male and took it to a whole new undefinable level. He was a 27 yr old hard, obnoxious, foul mouthed, violent ex con and tattoo artist who had snorted, puffed, murdered and screwed his way into prison. He was gorgeous and tattooed but had a nasty temper, mean attitude and was unforgiving. After 3 yrs he was now out of prison to his raunchy welcome home party thrown by his two best buds - Preppy, his weird and wacky Partner in crime who he'd known since he was 12 and who was usually high on something and Bear the Vice President of the Beach Bastard's MC.

Then there was terrified, hungry and malnourished Doe a 17/18 yr old who had woken up on the Streets with nothing..... which included her memories and, because of the unhelpful Police and the unhealthy Social Services, she was just another Jane Doe surviving on the streets. She met a Hooker who told her how to survive so, with a game plan in her head and her heart in her mouth, she ended up at King's party but in the blink of an eye everything went to Hell..... and Doe became the unwilling, naive and scared property of Satan himself (aka King).

So much drama, angst, heartache, tears, blood, shocks, surprises and devastation followed that words just aren't enough to cover it but in amongst it all evolved a friendship, a love and a mismatched dysfunctional family unit. However, two betrayals, led to rape, bloodshed and a WTF and a HOLY SH*T of a moving cliffhanger. Make no mistake - this is a very raw, very seedy, very graphic and very heavy listen - it's filled with foul mouths, sex and violence with no romance and yet, somehow and slowly, it morphed into a touching, tender and heartbreaking story as, in the end, everybody suffers and laughter turns into tears. Dual POV's and some great narration.

Worth a credit? This is a hard-hitting shocking listen, you better be sure your senses and heart can stand the heat, the emotions, the shocks and the strain this listen will evoke but what an intense story. From once thinking that I was going to return it because it just wasn't my sort of listen to switching my thoughts to it being a 5 star creditworthy listen took some skilfull writing and a very addictive, harrowingly and all-consuming story. And I don't want, but desperately need to listen to book 2 now.

Only half the story

Well, before you even start listening to this book, also download Tyrant, book 2 of this series. This is only half of the story of Doe and King.
That being said, be aware that these two books are intense. Most of the content is a view into the ugliest side of mankind. There is murder, rape, torture, drug and alcohol abuse and emotional anguish. And of course, since this is only half of the story, you don’t get the HEA to smooth out the edges. Hang in there, cause mixed up in all that ugliness is a story of the fiercest kind of love between a woman and a man, friend to friend and parent to child. To me, suffering through all the muck was worth the glimpses of the deepest love and loyalty.

WHAT A FANTASTIC STORY!!!!

This book was fan-freaking-tastic from start to finish! It's a bit rough around the edges, in terms of the gritty hand of cards these characters are dealt, but, it is one of the funniest stories I've listened to in a while. I laughed and nearly cried like a baby in some parts. I don't know if I'll make it through book 2 unscathed, but it will definitely be worth it!! Great, great story, I loved it.

Easily forgettable...

I was not motivated to jump to book #2. This story for me was predictable, implausible and unrealistic, a sale buy and worth just that. A raging cliffhanger could not even tempt me.

I wanted to like it.

This book didn't have heart, spark, or emotion. I felt the main characters we dumb, selfish and immature. In then end it was a major let down.
