Story
Plagued by nightmares and panic attacks, seventeen-year-old Jax Mitchell wants nothing more than a life of seclusion with only her twin brother for company. So when he's kidnapped by Earth's reclusive alien settlers, the E'rikon, she'll do anything to get him back--even form an alliance with a teenage E'rikon boy left behind by the same ship that took her brother. Jax agrees to act as a guide, and in return, the alien agrees to sneak her past the human-proof barrier surrounding the E'rikon city. Too bad it's not that simple. Jax soon finds that she's drawn to the alien boy with bright green hair and jewel-like scales on his back--and he's equally affected by her, the courageous redhead with haunted eyes. But she doesn't know the alien's true motives, and he has no idea that she is much more than she seems. With the aliens and the humans at odds, the connection forming between the two teens has consequences. What started off as a rescue mission sets in motion a chain of events that threatens not only the remaining humans and the growing alien society, but Earth itself.

The aliens who abducted me made a mistake. The Grivath have sold us on Gule - a planet known for dealing in human flesh. The women who are being held captive with me are in high demand and they all look like models. Me? I’m 5'2 shy, curvy, and a kindergarten teacher. Maybe they really meant to take my pageant queen sister? Our ship has crashed and half of the women are missing. Insert the tall, sexy warrior aliens, who saved us. Things are looking up, except that one of them is eyeing me like a snack, and not in a cannibalistic way - if you catch my drift.

When Hunter Cassidy plans to infiltrate the Assassin's Legion, posing as an assassin-in-training, she is prepared to encounter danger every step of the way. What she doesn't expect is the ruggedly handsome and relentlessly fierce trainee, Slade Baines. It's hard enough that Hunter is the first female to be accepted to train with the Master Assassin himself. Even when she beats the other candidates, the Master ranks her lowest of all. In the male-dominated Legion, the other trainees see her as a weak link to be driven out of their ranks.

In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of 30, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left.

One man obsessed with power. One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him. One war that changed the world. "World War three lasted 12 days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to devastate the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives. My name is Haldin Raish. Legionnaire. And the High General just murdered my parents. My dad was well respected in the Legion. Always had a reputation for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He was a good man. And whatever he stumbled onto got them both killed. Messily. Now, that red-eyed thing is coming for me. It walks like the High General. Talks like him, too. But it's not. Human beings don't shirk off gunfire and smack grown men across the room like that. Not even High Generals. And he's not the only one.

Summary
She’s on a desperate quest to protect her family. But will defending them save the planet or result in her doom?
Alyx Silverthorne’s broken world is falling apart. With her parents dead and her little brother Tommy infected with a zombie virus, she fears she’s about to lose everything that matters. But when her beloved sibling dies and returns to life stronger than before, their only choice is a dangerous cross-country journey to the capital for answers.
Teaming up with her deserter uncle and the best friend in love with her, they arrive at a secret military base wondering if Tommy is, in fact, the cure. But the affection of a strapping young soldier is cold comfort when his sinister commander takes a terrifying interest in her family.
Will Alyx survive the lies of the living or be consumed by the mouths of the dead?
Kill or Cure is the gut-wrenching first book in the Kill or Cure post-apocalyptic dystopian teen fiction series. If you like feisty young heroines, struggles against chaos, and teenage love, then you’ll adore Pixie Britton’s action-packed trilogy.
Praise for Kill or Cure
“A dynamic, multi-faceted story of teenage love and gut-wrenching loss in a dystopian world." (Books Monthly)
"This isn't your stereotypical run of the mill, zombie apocalypse novel. Pixie Britton takes the zombie genre and gives it her own thrilling unique twist. It's captivating without being cliché and stays unpredictable." (Readers Enjoy Authors Dreams)
"Kill or Cure is a different and exciting take on the genre. There's not a generic zombie survival character in sight. We are dealing with real people with emotions, and the sense of loss and danger is tangible throughout the entire book." (Gallifreyan Buccaneer)
"This is a genre that has been done in a million different ways for a million different readers, and one is hard-pressed to find a book that is a little different or offers something new. I’m thrilled (and relieved) to say that this book does that in addition to being entertaining and well-written." (Reads and Reels)
"There are times when your heart is in your throat, just hoping things will turn out right. A great young adult dystopian story." (The Faerie Review)
"I love when I pick up a book and can get sucked in from the very first chapter. This is when I realize that I will finish it quickly, because all I want to do is keep reading until the end. This is what this book had done for me, and I loved it!" (Nightly Reading)

Great dystopian novel
The book follows Alyx, Joe, Will and Tommy as they are in a dystopian future where a plague has made people infected. The group live in a walled commune and we start off with Tommy being infected and them all running away from the village before they are killed. They have to avoid the infected who can infect by biting and get to another walled village before getting killed. Even when at the next village they are not safe and have to fight for their lives.
I really hope there is a book 2 in this series As it is a great book which could go so much further.

Can't wait for Book 2 on Audio!
Such a great story! I've been listening to it in only a few sessions (whilst redecorating my bedroom lol) and it was so captivating! Even though I've read all three kindle books before (a while back though), it was a totally different and new experience to listen to it instead of reading it. Loved it. Shakira's voice is so soothing and totally became Alyx' voice in my head now. She really made the action come alive. Cannot wait for book 2 to be released on audio. Seriously if you haven't read this trilogy yet, do it. Do it now! And if you have, then I dare you to re-experience it all over again with Shakira's brilliant narration. 5 stars (if I could give more I would haha)!

Loved it!
I listen while working in the Backroom of my store sometimes. One of my employees heard part of this book and said she couldn’t wait to buy it and read it.
Alyx will do anything for her family. Especially her brother, Tommy and Joe. Tommy may be the cure for the zombie virus that has taken over the world. Someone will do anything to get him to use him. They will do anything to stay safe. This is quite and adventure and a fun one as well.
Great read for young teens and adults.
Narration by Shakira Shute was wonderful.

Fantastic YA Dystopian!
This is a YA take on the The Walking Dead, but with a crazy twist. The twist is highly original. I don't want to spoil the plot by revealing more, but it's something new and I'm hooked. I'm super excited to read the next book in this series and learn more about what's going on with these characters.
Pixie is a wonderful author. Her characters are well-rounded and full of life. The story was so good, I listened to it all in one day!
Shakira is perfect! Her narration is spot on.
