Summary

To save a life...could you take another?

You come home to find your wife missing - and the body of a woman you've never seen in her place.

A phone in her hand starts to ring. A voice says you have 24 hours to clear your name; 24 hours to save your wife.

But there's only one way to do it. You must kill someone for them. Someone you've never heard of.

A complete stranger. And the clock is ticking....

Relentless, gripping and full of twists, this is a masterclass in suspense where nothing is what it seems and no one is to be trusted.

Uncertain.

I love Simon Kernicks books and having read just about every one he's written but this one i just don't know. The plot was Ok but i felt it could have been told in a much shorter book, even Paul Thornley who i think is teh best narrator ever seemed to struggle reading it. Worth reading but not Simons best. I do look forward to his next one though! Smiles:

Not his greatest

I’ve listened to or read all the Simon Kernick books (I think). This is far from his finest and at times I thought of giving up. I’ll get his next book but had this been the first book of his that I’d heard I doubt I’d have bothered with a second. Paul Thornley’s narration is, in my opinion, excellent - as always.

Intriguing

This stand alone thriller from Simon Kernick is intriguing. Narrated by (the excellent) Paul Thornley, the story is told by several different characters - each with their own 'version of events to suit their own agenda'. The author takes you on a journey with many twists and turns, never quite knowing who or what to believe and keeps you guessing from beginning to end. Having read pretty much everything that Simon has written I was eagerly anticipating 'Kill A Stranger' and once again I did not finish this book feeling disappointed. Great stuff.

Not the usual standard

Simon Kernick is a brilliant author but this book is so poor in comparison to previous books. Just wanted it to be over to be honest. Poor plot, uninteresting characters and disjointed.

I struggled...

struggled connecting with the narrator, I wasn't keen on the "voices" he used for the main characters

Not the best . So disappointed 😞

Such a HUGE Simon Kernick fan was waiting with anticipation....... the day arrives ..... unfortunately for me could only manage half way !!! Absolutely struggled with the ridiculous plot. Simon kernick normally gets the whole book pulsating with adrenaline but this was like .... WHAT .... mmmm wife missing ... no panic no plot . I just found the scenarios way off piste and the whole thing so frustratingly silly. Even when the amazing Paul Thornley did such a good job narrating - it couldn’t hold book together I’m so disappointed. Never before with Simon Kernick have I asked for a refund - but this time afraid I am.
