Summary

While the investigations go on in Dallas and Baton Rouge after the disappearance of a senator's daughter, FBI agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are assigned to the sleepy backwoods of East Texas for a dead-end assignment to infiltrate an all-girls school.

Random disappearances dating back 50 years and more raise red flags that point to the tiny, isolated community of Hoganville. But CJ and Paige fear there will be little distraction from the memories of the one-night stand they shared six months ago.

Nevertheless, they integrate themselves into the lives of the teachers and staff, but soon the odd behavior of the townspeople has them convinced something sinister lurks there. Something, perhaps, that even the residents of Hoganville don't know about.

Simply amazing

Really out there story worked really really well. Gerri Hill seems to be able to turn her hand to all genres with total confidence. Loved main characters particularly CJ, but I suspect that this was mostly to do with the talented Abby Craden. The book has set itself up for a blistering sequel, I can’t wait.

Excellent

I read the print edition of this in one sitting a few years ago. It was so bizarre and yet consuming, well written and with her usual amount of humour, sex and drama. Gerri Hill is really very good at the combination . Reviewing the story by having Abby Craden read it to me was a real treat, and I eagerly await more of the same from these two.

I couldn't care less

How could this last 9 hours? The first 1 hour was appalling. Might be the computer narrator but not currently interested enough to care.

Great! Loved it!

Another fantabulous Gerri Hill - it is is an enjoyable story, the dialogue/interaction between the two main characters is very entertaining. There is lots of lesbian love making in the story - if you’re not into that you probably won’t like it. The main story line keeps you on your toes and is a little scary in places. Abby Craden as narraror does her usual fantastic job - she is one of the best narrators I’ve come across. Go on add it to your basket - you’ll have fun.

More please!

Have read the majority of Geri's books and this particular series is honestly my favourite. She's always done cop stories well but turns out she can do Eldritch horror even better. Definitely worth your time and money. Only criticism i have, as with most of Geri's books is that it's too short!! Could easily have listened to another 10 hours

Kept me intrigued the entire time!

Not one for romance novels; however, lately I was turned on to them. I am more into murder mystery, serial killer (you know ... effed stuff), and more. This definitely has an effed up scenario about breaking into and destroying a cult. The romance was hot and you could feel the tension of the characters. Between both of these aspects, the book kept me intrigued from being to end. I blew through the book in two days. I stayed up late and the moment I awoke, I put my headphones back on. Now to the narration... it was hands down fabulous. Not many women can pull off men's voices very well, Abby Craden did. Also the flip flopping between characters was flawless. For me, if I can close my eyes and feel as if different characters are really talking and not just someone pretending to be these different voices; then they are good. Well, more than good ... they are awesome. Can't wait until the next book.

Creepy, Murder Mystery with 2 Sexy FBI agents

first, I have to admit Gerri Hill and Abby Craden can do no wrong in my opinion. I get overly excited when I see new audiobooks of either and when together... destined to be greatness! This book did not disappoint. From the beginning until the end, I was hooked. Loved the characters and the mystery was creepy and great! Loved every minute of it.

Not your usual Gerri Hill

It started out fairly interesting, then it got kind of slow and boring and finally unbelievable with a really hurried ending that left you wondering. I have read all of Gerri Hill's books and this did not even sound like her. I was very disappointed. I have always given her a 5 star rating but not this one.

A Cult and a Hunt for Missing Girls

Two FBI agents are sent under cover to small town and juvenile detention school. They are searching for evidence of missing young women. Posing as a lesbian couple they infiltrate the school and find a mystery that is unbelievable. Great performance and ending. Love anything by Gerri Hill. Recommend.

Great Caesar’s Ghost what a story!!

This was one scary story! From the first mention of the screams in the woods at Hogansville; to disappearing people; to who knows what evil lurks in one’s heart; I’ve been on the edge of my mind attempting to fathom what in the world was going on in this story!! A must read - as I’m not telling anything — that will keep you guessing!! Serious horror story!!

I wish I'd read more reviews first

I was looking for a police procedural and I ended up with a well-performed story that is only half mystery. I was interested in the mystery and saw the characters and setting well enough. The narrator is very skillful and enjoyable to listen to. The rest is trite breathless bodice-ripping sexual anticipation romance. Way too repetitive and cliched. Filler instead of story.
