Summary

One of the world’s leading artists - a living legend - and best-selling author of The Creative Habit shares her secrets for harnessing vitality and finding purpose as you age. From insight to action, Keep It Moving is a guide for expanding one’s possibilities over the course of a lifetime.

At 77, Twyla Tharp is revered not only for the dances she makes - but for her astounding regime of exercise and nonstop engagement. She is famed for religiously hitting the gym each morning at daybreak and utilizing that energy to propel her breakneck schedule as a teacher, writer, creator, and lecturer. This audiobook grew out of the question she was asked most frequently: “How do you keep working?”

In Twyla’s own words: “This book is a collection of what I’ve learned in the past fifty-five years: from the moment I committed to a life in dance up until today...it identifies a ‘disease’ and offers a cure. That disease, simply put, is our fear of time’s passing and the resulting aging process. The remedy? This book in your hands.”

Keep It Moving is a series of no-nonsense mediations on how to live with purpose as time passes. From the details of how she stays motivated to the stages of her evolving fitness routine, Tharp models how fulfillment depends not on fortune - but on attitude, possible for anyone willing to try and keep trying. Culling anecdotes from Twyla’s life and the lives of other luminaries, each chapter is accompanied by a small exercise that will help anyone develop a more hopeful and energetic approach to the everyday.

Twyla will tell you what the beauty-fitness-wellness industry won’t: Chasing youth is a losing proposition. Instead, Keep It Moving focuses you on what’s here and where you’re going - the audiobook for anyone who wishes to maintain their prime for life.

Enjoyed the insights from dance applied to life. Her voice is not the easiest to listen to. The Pdf files make it easy to review her advice.

Amazing and Inspiring

This remarkable woman is one of the icons of the dance world. She is no less amazing as she ages. In fact, she is more amazing than ever with her 'shut up and dance' attitude. Who wouldn't want to be like her!!!! Love her!!!

Can’t get over the author’s voice

I’m very interested in what Twyla Tharp is saying. But I don’t know why she didn’t outsource the voice over for the reader and instead she’s reading it herself. I’m sorry, but i can’t get over her monotonous, frail, quivering voice. And it sounds like she has dentures that haven’t been glued properly.

Actionable Wisdom

The author shares her stories, experiences, wit, and wisdom in an entertaining and informative narrative. Each chapter is organized around a recommendation for taking action to improve your physical, mental, and emotional life. The author explains the science behind the recommendations without losing the audience in arcane details. Helpful for all ages, the author tells you how to keep moving through the changes of aging. I enjoyed listening to the author. The audiobook has an accompanying pdf of the exercises. I also bought the Kindle book to make it easier to review the principles taught in each lesson because I think they are that valuable.
