Summary

Darren Street faces the most personal and ruthless vendetta of his life.

After forfeiting years serving time for a false murder conviction, former criminal defense attorney Darren Street finally got his freedom back and is trying to build a regular life. But when an unthinkable tragedy shatters his hard-earned normalcy, Street is left reeling from the devastating blow.

As the criminal-justice system refuses to dispense justice, he sets out - without mercy - after the man responsible. Unwilling to stop at simply righting one wrong, Street decides to dust off his legal skills and dive back in - this time to unseat the district attorney general in Knoxville, whose callous indifference nearly let a man get away with murder.

Now navigating a broken establishment already steeped in corruption, Street will find the retribution and redemption he so desperately needs - unless it draws him even deeper into the very chaos that derailed his life in the first place.

The eleventh Scott Pratt legal thriller!

Scott Prat is currently my favorite legal thriller author. Justice Lost is the third novel in the Darren Street series. As much as I like this series I prefer Pratt's Joe Dillard series. In previous novels in the Darren Street series was falsely convicted of murder and spent three horrible years in a string of prisons. When He got out he killed without mercy or remorse three men who needed killing.

Justice Lost is a complex novel. As is usual for me when the publisher's summary is excellent, I recommend the potential listener read it. I will not add any detail. Narration is excellent.

I highly recommend all of Scott Pratt's legal thrillers. The Darren Street series novels are standalone, but are best listened to in order.

One man's justice...

I really like Scott Pratt's writing. And his legal thrillers are top notch. I must agree with Wayne (Audible reviewer) that I too prefer his Joe Dillard series. However , the Darren Street books are a close second.
The predicament this character finds himself in this book does tug at your heart strings though. When this book started out with such a happy occasion (Darren taking his girlfriend to hospital to give birth) I never saw what happened coming. You're just going to have to read it to find out what happens. Seems to me like Street wants to live a good and productive life but corruption and cover ups keep getting in his way. I think this book takes him places he never thought he'd go.
James Patrick Cronin does an outstanding job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this entire series.

Engaging

This is book three of the Darren Street series. The way the book ended, it might be the end of the series. For the best understanding of the story, the books should be read in order.
This is an action packed fast paced story. After reading the other two books, I was surprised at the direction this book took. I have enjoyed this series. It was a nice change of pace to have the protagonist hero on the wrong side of a moral problem.

The book is well written and the characters were most interesting. The plot twists and turns. This book makes a great- get-away-from-it-all book.

The book is just over seven hours. James Patrick Cronin does a good job narrating the story. Cronin is an actor and audiobook narrator.

Dark Knight with a Brief

Look no further than the character Darren Street to find a protagonist that is tormented, colorful, and confused by a justice system he should know in and out. He applies his own branch of vigilante justice, or some might say revenge. Scott Pratt is a master storyteller and Cronin's narration works wonders.

Enjoyable but predictable

As the third book in the series it is becoming very predictable. I hope the 4th book breaks that a bit

Sad to see the series end. Great narration

Sad this series ended. But it was great while it lasted. Sometimes it is best to stop while your ahead.

This was an amazing series. For those of you who haven't listened to this series I highly recommend it. So many things happened, incarceration, revenge, murder and a lot of great characters.

The narration was great. I enjoyed listening to James Patrick Cronin. He does a great job on all the voices and the females sound like females.

Can Darren Redeem Himself???

Darren Street is a lawyer with lots of baggage. So, in this book he is lured to run for the district attorney general of Knox county, Tennessee. The county where the first book began with the then district attorney Ben Clancy lording it over Darren with threats and jail time. This book serves as a wrap up of all the bad stuff, a redemption for the Tipton family and even redemption for Darren but don’t be disappointed the book is a real thriller and leads the reader on a wild chase through the corruption in Knox county. It is a good read. It could be the last book or it could be continued. totally up to the author. I listened mostly in audible and read in between. The narrator is James Patrick Cronin who narrates the first two books. He is superb.

Would make a great series!

I thoroughly enjoyed these books. I can see this turning into a great series. A district attorney who is not afraid to take care of things any way that is needed.

Pretty crazy, but good!

In this legal thriller series, author Scott Pratt, made the lawyer (main character) into a vigilante lawyer. I wasn't sure if I liked this at first, but I listened to all three books, and they were entertaining regardless. It sounds like there'll be more to come.
