Summary

One hot chef...

Eric Vail has always loved a challenge. After leaving the Navy, he mastered his passion for cooking. As the sous chef at Top, one of Dallas’s hottest restaurants, his skills are pushed to the limit every night. Unfortunately, his ultimate prize still eludes him. Server Deena Holmes is the sweetest thing he’s seen in forever, but she’s as distant as she is beautiful. When they’re put together in the same training class at the infamous club Sanctum, he knows this is his shot. And this former SEAL never misses.

A woman who lost her taste for love…

Deena thinks Eric is the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen, but her heart has been burned too many times before. She’s sworn off relationships for good and she can’t trust herself with a man that easy to fall in love with. She takes a spot as a trainee at Sanctum in the hopes of finding a safe place to explore and experiment. When she discovers her partner is the same chef she dreams about every night, Deena knows she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

A perfect recipe for passion

While exploring the world of Sanctum, Eric and Deena find themselves learning about each other and finding an intimacy neither expected. But when the ghosts of her past resurface, old wounds are reopened. Can their newfound love survive when it’s put to the test?

Solid storyline that fits the series

A masters and restaurant story with a sensitive Dom pursuing a skittish newby sub. Lots of appearances by wider characters like Ian, Sean, Charlotte... Great to have Sebastian York as a welcome change for narrator. It would have been even better if a female voice could have joined in and missed Ryan West’s voice as Ian. York made a very sexy Eric though.

good story, so so narrator

I love Lexi Blake's books but this particular narrator is not the best. he doesn't perform with much emotion. it is like he's just reading the book.

Love this Series!

I don't know much about the D/S scene but this series starts you off at the beginning with training. There is so much thought, care and deliberation into what each person needs. Deana needs patience and guidance. Eric needs someone to have his back and support him. Together through Top's training they find their rhythm and path.

Excellent Book.

I really loved this book. An excellent book in the Topped series. All of the books are inspirational stories about overcoming obstacles and how love can make all the difference in the world. Five Stars all the way on this one.

A dom and a sub fall in love. The end. blah

It's another romance in the series... not really necessary as nothing really happens. A dom and a sub fall in love. The end. Oooops, guess that was a spoiler alert. My bad.

The narration is perfect as Sebastian York is my fav.

If you were to miss this book you would not miss out on anything in the series as a whole.

Fabulous book, terrible narration

I can't get enough of Lexi Blake! I've read everything she's written, listened to half of them so far, and can't wait until her next release. I've listened to almost all of the Masters & Mercenaries series and until now, enjoyed them immensely. This one was awful.

Just One Taste, Topped, Book 2 was absolutely ruined by the narrator, Sebastian York. I tried twice to listen and cringed both times. I barely made it 5 minutes the second try. His flat, grating voice was like nails on a blackboard. He reads way too fast, with no pauses between sentences and barely a pause between paragraphs. He reads in a monotone, putting no emotion into the characters, and sounds like he is simply reading a book aloud rather than narrating a story. The characters all sound the same. I listen to audiobooks for the narration, the acting, not to hear someone read the book to me. There's a huge difference between the two.

Lance Greenfield did a great job with Luscious, Book 1 of Topped, and of course Ryan West is amazing in the rest of the Masters & Mercenaries series. It's too bad we're stuck with Mr. York for the rest of the Topped novellas.
