Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Carer/companion wanted. Young female preferred. Competitive salary. Room and board included.

Una Richardson is devastated after the death of her mother. Hoping for a fresh start, she responds to an advertisement and steps into the rich, comforting world of elderly Mrs Elspeth McKenzie.

But Elspeth's home is not as safe as it seems.

Kathryn, her cold and bitter daughter, resents Una's presence. More disturbing is the evidence suggesting two girls lived here before.

What happened to them?

Why will the McKenzies not talk about them?

As the walls close in around her, Una fears she'll end up just like the other girls....

Fantastic! IF you suspend belief for 11 hours!

Three woman go missing/murdered from the same employer.. and the police are clueless! Please!! The amount of times I rolled my eyes through this. It went from bad to worse and the audio kept changing all the way through! NOT great! Don't waste your credit!!

A bit ridiculous

The story was ok but a little far fetched. There are a few glitches on the audio which spoilt it a bit.

Point of constant irritation warning!!

I never complain but PLEASE correct the narrator’s pronunciation of the lead characters name. UNA = OONAH, not YOONA. This is an Irish name and is so grating to hear it repeatedly mispronounced…

Superb psychological thriller

Slow burn that became more and more intriguing. Good double twist at the end.
Brilliant narrator.

Meh..

I kind of struggled with this towards the end. I thought it had potential in the beginning and I enjoyed the story and setting but around the middle it went downhill and I struggled to keep focused on it. The ending was a good twist but I felt like the whole story dragged on a bit.

Another Claire Douglas cracker

Excellent book from the reliable Claire Douglas. The story makes you keep asking “what’s going on?” Intruiging throughout, with realistic characters the reader invests in. Well read story too, the right balance between‘performing’ and reading a book. Loved it.
