About this listen

Roo:

Five years ago, I walked away from Sunbury, Oregon, and left my best friend behind. The move was supposed to get my life on track. I even had a list: Life-changing epilepsy surgery. Check. See the world. Check. Get over my straight best friend... Not exactly.

No matter where I go or who I meet, I can't let Tanner go. I'm back to tell him how I feel. To get the closure I need once and for all. Only now I'm here and falling for him all over again, it's getting harder to say the words. Because once I have my closure, I'll be gone. And this time it will be for good.

Tanner:

When my best friend, Roo, left for Australia, it was the worst day of my life. I thought we'd have each other always. But Roo needed the surgery so I let him go, thinking he'd come straight back. Five years is a long time.

Now he's here, all I want is to hold on tight. I need to show him what he means to me. The problem is, I'm not exactly sure what that is. My draw to him has always been confusing and different - everyone in town says so. But I struggle to understand it. All I know is I won't survive him leaving again. And I'll do anything to make him stay.

Contains mature themes.

I’ve read/listened to this book about 5 times I think. It’s sweet, funny and lovely as all of Saxon’s books are. But it’s also a bit special. I don’t know why but Roo and Tanner feel so real to me. The story unfolds smoothly, and I have a smile on my face throughout the whole thing, every time.

One of my comfort read/listen

I’ve read this book before, so it was interesting to hear how Graves and Cendese portrayed each character. It was interesting to read others’ reviews of the audio too, as I felt completely differently about the audio quality overall.

First of all, I’m not the biggest fan of dual narration - I prefer one narrator, but this is possibly one of the best dual narrations I have listened to - Graves and Cendese complement each other a lot better than others I have listened to.

I really like both as individual narrators and find them easy to listen to, however I preferred Graves’ narration to Cendese’s which sometimes I felt the tone was at times a little off. It’s all personal preference really!

Story-wise, you can’t go wrong with friends to lovers. I love Saxon James’ work and I enjoyed the variety of characters who aren’t perfect - they both have their own issues/problems that they are working through and this makes it so easy to relate to them.

Overall, a really great listen - definitely worth purchasing!

I really liked these two and I’m glad they got there happy ever after together!

Also I’m so glad they adopted the kittens! And both of them as well, I was heartbroken when they described them taking only one and I’m glad they got the other as well!

It was a fun story!

Two men speak through internal monologues. What emerges is their love for one another which has spanned over time. A sensitive, and at erotically told story.

The intensity of emotions
