About this listen

The bestselling autobiography of a league legend.
Johnathan Thurston is widely regarded as rugby league's greatest player. This autobiography will follow Thurston's journey from a Brisbane kid who was written off as too skinny, too slow and too wild to play professionally, to his debut with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2003, to State of Origin star, to Dally M and Clive Churchill Medal winner, and the fairytale premierships.

Downloaded as a last minute listen whilst I was driving. Rugby League fan but normally stick to UK players that i'm more familiar with so wasn't expecting it to match the likes of Moz.

It was a great book from start to finish. Doesn't match the chaotic goings on that we're used to with the GB lads but gives a great insight into the player mentality and inside looks within the NRL.

Better than expected.

I fell in love with Rugby League watching the 2013 World Cup. Seeing JT put on a masterclass at Old Trafford was a big part of that.

I followed his career closely afterwards but didn’t know much about what went on before. So this has been an excellent listen. Demons are tackled, revelations (to me at least) are made and we’re offered a little window into the mind of the clutchiest of clutch players.

Interesting insight into a legend

Loved this. Being British and a rugby league fan I had heard of JT, I'd even seen him live playing for Australia, but I didn't know his story. I was hesitant as I am not usually a fan of biographies but I'm glad I gave this a go. The narrative is honest, interesting and insightful. The reader is ace as the performance feels genuine, not forced in anyway and happily authentically Aussie!

An excellent introduction to the NRL and a good insight into one of the NRL's most beloved indigenous figureheads.

Surprisingly entertaining
