Summary
Joël commence par décrire un fléau terrible : l'invasion de sauterelles qui couvrent le pays et dévorent toute la récolte. Les ravages provoqués par ces créatures ne sont qu'un avant-goût du jugement qui surviendra le "jour de l'Eternel". C'est pourquoi le prophète invite le peuple à se détourner de ses péchés et à revenir à Dieu. En même temps qu'il annonce le jugement et appelle à un changement d'attitude, le prophète réaffirme la bonté du Seigneur et les bénédictions promises à tous ceux qui le suivent : "Toute personne qui fera appel au nom de l'Eternel sera sauvée" (3.5).
