Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of Joan of Arc, then pay attention....

Joan's story almost feels like a novel instead of a part of history. She was a shining savior on a warhorse, waving her white banner and calling her soldiers forth to victory; but she was also painfully and intensely human, a young girl who wept and bled just the same as the rest of us. In the same breath, it is as easy to relate to Joan as it is to be awed by her incredible character.

She may have been beatified as a saint, but Joan of Arc was in many ways a very ordinary human being, a person who felt pain and fear, a person who made mistakes, and who had moments of weakness. This audiobook follows her through her extraordinary journey. Feel her terror as she first experienced her visions. See her determination as she convinced a cynical captain to grant her passage to the Dauphin. Experience her exhilaration and faith as she led the French army to victory after victory. Weep alongside her as the King of France betrayed her. Suffer with her during her long imprisonment in the hands of her enemies. And cry with the witnesses who saw her burn for a crime she did not commit.

She was Joan of Arc, a person whose life remains wreathed in mystery, but nonetheless a fascinating adventure. And this is her story.

Joan of Arc

This topic is studied and accepted today and throughout history. The author wrote this book 100 years ago about a country girl born about 1412. To imagine what she faced and overcame from influential men in her time. It is simply a fantastic book about well researched amazing feats and experiences of young Joan of Arc.

A great history tale.

I did not associate this audible with any particular religion and did not feel a significant amount of judgment or need to take a religious side or point of view in listening to it. Instead, I saw it as a story, a tale of a heroic young female figure, set in a time when young women were not so appreciated or praised.

Recommended for history lovers.

It has been many years since a friend recommended this excellent book to me and I have thought of it many times, always positively and with appreciation. I, too, was unaware that the author wrote such a serious book, and I took it eagerly to listen.

Captivating History, I love it.

I've made my way through only part of the book thus far, but it is a well-done work about a saintly heroine.

The writing style is interesting

The writing technique is exciting, and this is a fictional work based on facts compiled from history,

It is very, very deep

Before listening to it, I thought it might be dry, but it is the absolute opposite. Simple and informative.

Simple and informative.

I fell in love with this book because of the intimacy is able to achieve with the delicate, tender, and brave little French maiden and of course, with the historical facts.

Magnificent

This is a majestic tale of the life of one of the world's most prominent gentlewomen. Written by Captivating History, it is a problem why it has not reached the levels of acclaim of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

A Captivating Guide

We all know how this story goes and ends. It would have been a much more enjoyable listening if someone had proofread the book.

History, at it best, thanks CH.

I can understand why the author considered this is the best work. It is not a dry biography. It reads like a work of fiction, but to the best of my knowledge is 100% historically accurate.

Thanks Captivating History writing team.

I'm also interested in realizing how well the author was able to make the history live. I did not know he was such a great writer, especially when this was a translation from French history. But here it is been confirmed.

It's a massive book and is nothing like the recent blog or clickbait I've sadly become accustomed to.

Great work by the author.

There is a lot of criticism of this personality.
It came through in work. Joan was a remarkable human being, forever faithful to her beliefs and God, whom she lived, and died for.

Fanciful stuff

I would have favored a valid historical account rather than a story style. However, Captivating History had a great appreciation for this woman and her incredible life.

Good one from Captivating History

As this is a book about one of history's events, I was doubtful to want to listen to it at first. However, I had forgotten the unusual style of writing of Captivating History, and soon was engulfed in it and could hardly put it down for listening breaks.
It turned out to be very easy to understand until the very end of the book.

Detailed story.

I needed to know who Joan of Arc was and what made her give her life, and I wasn't discouraged in this book.
Told an overview of her life and fairly reported her religious convictions.

Really an interesting stuff

Tell's the history of her life from her teens to her ultimate demise in great detail.
Interesting detail on the behavior of her enemies and her supporters in the religious environment of the time.
