About this listen
Librarian Syd Murphy flees the carnage of a failed marriage by accepting an 18-month position in Jericho - a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Her plans to hide out and heal her wounds fall by the wayside as she gets drawn into the daily lives of the quirky locals. She becomes fast friends with Maddie Stevenson, the enigmatic physician who has returned to the backcountry community to take over her late father's medical practice. Together they learn that life and love can have as many twists and turns as a country road.

Would you consider the audio edition of Jericho to be better than the print version?
In some respects yes as the audio, so well narrated, brings the characters to life. Being a Brit it is hard to imagine the accents of the characters and the narrator does them so well. However, it is hard to be better than the original story. What other book might you compare Jericho to, and why?
Safe Harbor by Radclyffe. Mainly because it has a similar balance of humour and pathos, the story has many subplots and the Narrator is good.Which scene did you most enjoy?
There are so many scenes it is hard to pick one. On the comedy side the scene of David and Maddie over the so called broken coffee machine, or the one when it suddenly dawns on Syd that Maddie is the pilot going to fly their plane. A more poignant scene is the one where Maddie persuades Celine to tell her why her marriage broke up.Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Would if I could, but with over 21 hours of listening, very good value by the way, I couldn't if I tried.Any additional comments?
This is my go to book when feeling low and I have listened to the narration many, many times and always found something new I had not picked up on. Also because the novel has many positive sub plots, as well as the romance, it gives me a boost and a feeling of warmth each time I listen to it. There is quite a lot of humour in the book, which the narrator gets just right, and I still find myself chuckling over certain scenes despite the fact that I have heard them many times before. How Maddie has not strangled David by the end of the book I've yet to figure. To me Ms McMan has written a timeless classic, which Christine Williams has brought to life with her clever narration. The book is a fine balance between humour and pathos, which really works.Lovely paced Romance!!

I was never quite sure how things were going to pan out. Broken relationships, new relationships, ongoing friendships, a cast of diverse characters and a New England setting that felt real. Great narration and I’m looking forward to listening to the follow up, Aftermath.
Compelling story of life and love
