very satisfied

The book is very descriptive and the examples are broken down enough for the listener to follow. I have not finished it but so far it's the best source I have. Recommended for beginners

decent learning tool

If you are a beginner, this is a fantastic book for you. If you work through it, you will have a good understanding of java to build on. I know countless hours of console programming can make you want to roll your face on the keyboard, but don't try to build a house from the roof down. Get a strong foundation and build u

strongly recommended

Finally a Java book that makes it easy to learn the basics. All other Java books I have got into too much detail and explanation without proper examples. This book takes you step by step with easy to follow program from the beginning to the end

nice book

I am a newbie in java programming and this book provided information that could help me jump start my java programming project as the details of the coding system was clearly explained on the tutorials. It is useful to slowly grasp the purpose of java as an object oriented programs to run computers. Good for beginners

excellent job

This is a concise, well explained, and well organized book. I didn't even realize I was 'learning' until I was coding a project and got it correct without double checking punctuation, spelling, capitalization, etc. One warning, though, unless you're one of the lucky few who can pick up a skill simply by reading, coding the projects by hand transcription is almost a necessity. I love this book so far

best book forbeginners

Very impressed thus far. It's not, and I'm guessing not intended to be the end all be all Java book. At least for me, it's simple, practical examples that I can use and refer to as I leverage other resources to learn Java to a level at which I'm employable. There are lots, LOTS of great books, videos and other resources to learn anything. The secret is to find what works for YOU. This appears to be what I need to help me understand other material. This is a supplement, not a primary source. It's worth more

Beginners book

Good beginner java guide. I needed something to listen to that would refresh my technical terms for an upcoming interview and this worked well for Oop and very basic beginner knowledge on java.

outstandin

This is a fine book. It is useful both for programmers who are learning Java or even for non-programmers starting with their first language. The object-oriented elements of Java, general OO concepts are explained exceptionally well. I have this book from cover to cover to brush up on my rusty Java. Java, I learned, is very close to C++ (which is mostly what I have been familiar with) but designed for a different platform (the web, or other devices) and for portability
