Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt. Now in splendiferous binaural!

Listen with headphones for a wondercrump 3D effect that sounds like Roald Dahl's phizz-whizzing characters are in the room with you!

James Henry Trotter lives with two ghastly hags.

Aunt Sponge is enormously fat with a face that looks boiled and Aunt Spiker is bony and screeching.

He's very lonely until one day something peculiar happens....

At the end of the garden a peach starts to grow and grow and grow. Inside that peach are seven very unusual insects - all waiting to take James on a magical adventure.

But where will they go in their giant peach, and what will happen to the horrible aunts if they stand in their way?

There's only one way to find out....

fantastic for grown ups too!

Don't judge me...!

After a few stressful weeks of work pressure building up and difficulty sleeping as a result we decided to try doing 'book at bedtime' for 15 minutes as we nod off to sleep.

It worked 😀.

Plus we got to relive our childhood memories of this terrific book.

It's legendary and lived up to our memories. brilliantly read and the narrator's voices were wonderful. the worm was our favourite character, we'd both giggle almost every time he spoke.

enjoy and sleep well 😉 XXX

A firm favourite with our dogs

We buy Audible stories for our dogs for evening stories as they go to sleep. We actually started as a way to distract them from a particularly noisy time around 5th November last year. They settle down and for this very nicely and Julian Rhind-Tutt's narration is absolutely perfect. They've listened to it three times now.

Fantastic! - But listen to it through headphones!

This is one of my favourite Roald Dahl books that I enjoyed as a child in the 80s and enjoyed this just as much. Some of the reviews complain about the sound quality but they obviously ignored the first part of the book when it is explained that it is a binaural recording so must be listened to through headphones; you then get an amazing 3D stereo sound sensation. It sometimes sounds like the sound is moving around outside your head. Its a great book for all ages!

good but not to be listened to on speakers

great story and voice acting but we were listening in the car and some parts we struggled to hear due to the quietness as it wasn't ballanced throughout due to how it's recorded.

Roald Dahl at his best!

Just been reliving my childhood with this classic. Still as entertaining as it ever was.

Amazing story and read!

I really like it but the voice of aunt Sponge and aunt Spiker is hard to catch. Probably tryna make them sound annoying but it's too much, I think. Anyway, love the rest of it!

A classic brought to life

A well narrated story that embodies all the adventure and wander I am sure Dahl intended.
