I’ve had a crush on Mike Tanner, my brother’s best friend, since I was twelve. It’s more than a crush. I love him. He’s the strong, silent type who would give you the shirt off his back. Mike has no idea how beautiful he is, both inside and out. Before I left for college, I took the chance to tell him how I felt. Then I made the mistake of kissing him. After that disastrous encounter, I tried to move on. Four years later, after graduating from college, I returned to Cannon Beach, a broken man. I don’t know how to put myself back together.
