Summary

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through IVF, the quality of your eggs will have a powerful impact on how long it takes you to get pregnant and whether you face an increased risk of miscarriage. The latest scientific research has found that poor egg quality is in fact the single most important cause of age-related infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and failed IVF cycles.

Based on a comprehensive investigation of a vast array of scientific research, It Starts with the Egg reveals a practical and evidence-backed approach for improving egg quality and fertility, now fully revised and updated in 2019.

With a concrete strategy that includes minimizing exposure to toxins such as BPA and phthalates, choosing the right vitamins and supplements to safeguard developing eggs, and harnessing nutritional advice shown to boost IVF success rates, this audiobook offers practical solutions that will help you get pregnant faster and deliver a healthy baby.

Very Useful Info But No PDF of Lists.

Really useful info and easy to understand. Only issue is no pdf download so it's impossible to have the list of supplements to purchase etc.

Super informative giving practical advice

Loved it and have already recommended good information for the future and present day. Highly recommended reading.

Great resource. Wish I'd read it sooner.

I have to admit I was sceptical and didn't pick up this book straight away after hearing about it. The website links are invaluable for an audio book and I didn't know how to spell any of supplement names.

Stress and spend inducing

Couldn't finish this- found it caused a lot of unneeded stress given the vast lists of things to avoid and expensive supplements recommended. In addition, the narrator was not at all engaging and the chapters aren't named so its impossible to move through the book to focus on what might be relevant.

Good information but horrible reader

I would recommend the paper book due to the very useful information for someone trying to conceive, but the reader is so robotic that makes the audible version very boring.

Very informative, but..

Highly recommended this book for people struggling to conceive, however the book is very repetitive, and seems quite contradictory at times

Robotic reading but excellent information

Great book, great info, but awful reading, robotic and boring. Chapters in the book don't match audio chapter system, extremely annoying when told to reference a specific chapter.

Good information

I think is important to share as much information we can on a subject that isn't treated as important as it should be. Often doctors aren't updated on research as much as they should be as miscarriages are not taken seriously as it should be. This book given to me more information and a bit of hope. Also given me more power and information to make decisions and to ask for more test in my medical meetings.

Audio Version is INCOMPLETE. Do not buy audiobook

I have been listening to this audio book while reading the kindle version and can confirm that it is incomplete. There entire halves of chapters in the book but not in the audio book.

The content of the book is AMAZING and a must-read. There are lots of important parts of the book (for example on chromosomal abnormality) that is critical but missing from the audio book.

The narration is also very robotic, as evidenced by mispronounced words that an English—speaking human would not make.

great book but hard to follow due to narrator

someone said that it seems like this book is read by Siri. i felt the same. if it weren't as interesting as it is, it would have been difficult to listen to, due to the equal voice of the reader. luckly, it is a good book so it's worth the hassle. I recommend playing at a faster speed if you can keep up with the understanding, as it becomes more easy to follow this way.

IVF Success

I followed the recommendations given by the author over a 6 month period and went from 3 follicles with zero eggs to 10 follicles with 7 eggs upon retrieval.
Age 42, no complicating factors other than low ovarian count size to age.
Thank you Rebecca Frett for pulling all the info together into a well organized book! We are thrilled!

Must Listen and Read

This book is like no other!!! I feel so fortunate that I found it. I am 41 and have suffered three miscarriages. After my last, I was determined to figure out if there was anything I could do. I feel like many of us pushing 40, or in our 40s feel like there’s nothing we can do to improve our chances besides seeing a fertility specialist. And while this may be the recommended course you eventually find yourself on, I was so relieved to find that there are things we have power over that can increase our odds at having a healthy baby. I scoured the shelves at bookstores, the library and the Internet trying to find any information on what I could do differently, and fortunately, someone recommended this book. It has given me so much hope. It is filled with great advice based on research, from eliminating “hidden” toxins, to which supplements to take to increase your odds and why. Rebecca Fett is so knowledgeable, and has really done her research. I actually bought the physical book first, but then decided I wanted to finish it quicker, so I bought the Audible as well. I am still in the initial few months of following all of her recommendations, and through the recommendations for blood tests to ask for, I have found I have Hashimoto’s and high insulin (both of which are linked to miscarriage), so I am taking steps to treat those. I already am feeling better with higher energy and brighter skin, so now we wait and HIGHLY recommend.

Incomplete book

The content of this book is great but the audible version of the book is incomplete, more than half of chapter 1 is missing. Audible should fix this!

Narration is robotic

Great information but the narration sounds like a robot is reading. A lot of suggestions for improving both female and male fertility for a variety of different circumstances are contained. Each point is always backed up with scientific study and the quality of that study is always noted, so it’s very well researched.

Very Helpful

This book contains great, actionable information. It is a little hard to keep up with the scientific studies, particularly in the audio format for me as I am a visual person, but it allowed me to get the information much faster than I would have by reading it. The narrator is fairly monotone, so it was more easily digestible for me in smaller segments.
