Story
The anti-diet bible that calls time’s up to poisonous beliefs about food, weight and worth. Dieting doesn't work. Not long term. In fact, our bodies are hardwired against it. But each time our diets fail, instead of considering that maybe our ridiculously low-carb diet is the problem, we wonder what’s wrong with us. But it’s time we called a spade a spade: Constantly trying to eat the smallest amount possible is a miserable way to live, and it isn’t even working. So f*ck it.

If you're tired of being at war with your body, then this book is for you. We've been convinced that happiness is something that only comes once we hit that goal weight, get those washboard abs, shrink ourselves down and change every part of ourselves. We believe that our bodies are the problem, but this is not true. It’s how we’ve been taught to see our bodies that’s the problem.... It's time for us all to stop believing the lies we've been fed about what it means to be beautiful and take our power back.

Mainstream health science has let you down. Weight loss is not the key to health, diet and exercise are not effective weight-loss strategies, and fatness is not a death sentence. Body Respect debunks common myths about weight, including the misconceptions that BMI can accurately measure health, that fatness necessarily leads to disease, and that dieting will improve health. The authors also help make sense of how poverty and oppression - such as racism, homophobia, and classism - affect life opportunity, self-worth, and even influence metabolism.

Story
Intuitive eating is a new way of life. It doesn’t begin with a list of rules, restrictions, and guides to follow. Nor does it require you to stock up on a new group of supplements, specific food items, or "lose weight quick" guides. The psychological impact of intuitive eating is powerful. It aims to remove the barriers of foods you eat versus foods you are not permitted to have and puts the decision-making in your mind and body.
Summary
The go-to resource - now fully revised and updated - for building a healthy body image and making peace with food, once and for all.
When it was first published, Intuitive Eating was revolutionary in its anti-dieting approach. The authors, both prominent health professionals in the field of nutrition and eating disorders, urge listeners to embrace the goal of developing body positivity and reconnecting with one’s internal wisdom about eating - to unlearn everything they were taught about calorie-counting and other aspects of diet culture and to learn about the harm of weight stigma. Today, their message is more relevant and pressing than ever. With this updated edition of the classic best seller, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch teach listeners how to:
- Follow the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to achieve a new and trusting relationship with food
- Fight against diet culture and reject diet mentality forever
- Find satisfaction in their food choices
- Exercise kindness toward their feelings, their bodies, and themselves
- Prevent or heal the wounds of an eating disorder
- Respect their bodies and make peace with food - at any age, weight, or stage of development
- Follow body positive feeds for inspiration and validation
…and more easy-to-follow suggestions that can lead listeners to integrate Intuitive Eating into their everyday lives and feel the freedom that comes with trusting their inner wisdom - for life.

poor narration
The narrator appears to be in a rush to get all the words out, so for myself with auditory issues it makes it hard to understand what she is saying, this is not helped by the flat, monotone way in which she delivers the narration
I do believe this book can be extremely helpful in repairing your relationship with food, but I'll stick to the actual paper copy.

less politics more health please
I was under the impression this book would be more about the science of intuitive eating and less of a political agenda sorrounding body image. My concern is that certain unhealthy people will read this book and use it as an excuse to remain the same. Being a big person myself I have experienced the problems of carrying to much weight from knee problems, back pain, sleepyness from food, the feeling of overeating, eating for emotional release and many other issues I can tell you sometimes just accepting yourself is not always the key and changes need to be made or you will die. In order to understand intuitive eating you do not need this book just feel and understand how food effects your body. I truly wish this book was much more about how to listen and understand your body then about Lizzo and celebrities and oppressors. some pointers I learned in my journey I dont exercise I move and focus on things I want to do for example Nike Run Club and Caroline Girvans training programs I dont always do it 100% I do what I believe I can do for the day sometimes it 100 other times its 40 or 20% or 0% I dont beat myself up or just give up I just rest when I feel I need to. In regards to eating intuitive eating is important you must learn to know your bodys signs of hunger and fullness. Also what foods give you energy and what foods are what I would consider bad and remove energy from you make you feel sad or tired. and contrary to what the book states some foods have made me sad not because of guipt but because when I eat them I feel horrible they make me tired and grogy and take away time from my life sleeping in a food coma how can that be good? anyway good luck people

Great information, terrible narration.
I love this book and it’s a perfect place to start when beginning intuitive eating. It’s packed with helpful information and nurtures a learning environment for honoring your body.
With that in mind, if you have the option to buy the book, I highly suggest you do. It’s terribly narrated, and it sounds like Siri is reading you the book. If you can get past that, it’s worth it.

The narrator sounds like a robot...
I was looking forward to this one but I find that the narrator sounds synthesized. She will start a sentence with decent inflection but then quickly modulates to a flat tone that I find unlistenable. I could have an eBook reader read this with more tonal variety than this.

Great Book But the Narration is Awful!
Having read the 1st edition of this book, I was very excited to hear the 4th edition. The updated information is great but the narration is awful. It felt like listening to a long robocall. It's the one thing that's preventing me from spending a credit on the book.

Great Information
The information in this book is invaluable. I’m looking forward to finding a coach/nutritionist/therapist to help me with this journey. I already feel relieved and hopeful knowing there is a path to follow that is different from where I’ve been.
The narration and editing of this book is ok. It’s easy to blame the person but I think the editing team has some accountability here too. But if you can avoid getting hung up on the sometimes robotic voice you’ll find the time spent is well worth it.

Potentially Life Changing
I have been a life long dieter. I was burnt out on diets and trying to lose weight. I also felt out of control with food and stress eating. I am using the principles of intuitive eating to ditch the diet mentality, fire the food police, and honor my body and what it needs. It feels like freedom. This is not a quick fix... it is a paradigm shift and takes practice. Not for those seeking a diet, but definitely for those who want to change.

Don’t listen to this!
This book has been one of the worst things I have ever followed. Gained weigh, and not happier in my body. Super puffy, uncomfortable, and bigger from trying this. And horrible advice to just get whatever kids want. They don’t become “intuitive” and start eating vegetables. This breeds a horrible “I want this” mentality and gives no credit to having self control. This book opened more issues and I wish I could return it. I hate it being in my library on audible!
