Summary

Random House presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Into the Water by Paula Hawkins, read by Imogen Church, Sophie Aldred, Daniel Weyman, Rachel Bavidge and Laura Aikman.

The addictive new psychological thriller from the author of The Girl on the Train, the runaway Sunday Times Number One best seller and global phenomenon.

In the last days before her death, Nel called her sister. Jules didn't pick up the phone, ignoring her plea for help.

Now Nel is dead. They say she jumped. And Jules has been dragged back to the one place she hoped she had escaped for good, to care for the teenage girl her sister left behind.

But Jules is afraid. So afraid. Of her long-buried memories, of the old Mill House, of knowing that Nel would never have jumped.

And most of all she's afraid of the water, and the place they call the Drowning Pool....

Good story

It was a good story but lacks some mystery and not as gripping as girl on the train but not a bad story over all .

A worthy follow up to a bestseller!

Would you listen to Into the Water again? Why?

Yes, I would. I liked the different character narrations and how they brought a different dimension to the story. And I probably missed some early clues, so would re-listen.

What other book might you compare Into the Water to, and why?

Maybe Sarah Waters? Or Clare Mackintosh.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Different voices were really good, I enjoyed it.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, not strong emotional reaction but it was edge of the seat at times.

Any additional comments?

Glad this is a strong novel to follow up from the success of her debut novel, it must have been a lot of pressure for the author and she's pulled it off.

Wow..

This book is boring at first as you get to know the characters but oh my giddy aunt is it good when it gets to the point. And the end... i really really did not expect that!

Slow start but picked up eventually

I'm a huge fan of the Girl on the Train and was even able to listen to it a second time, knowing the ending. However, 'Into the Water' got off to a very slow start. It's taken me nearly 2 months to get through it and I've stopped and started and listened to other things in between because it simply wasn't gripping until a long way in. It's also quite hard to keep track of all of the different characters who tell their part of the story, probably made worse by the fact that I dipped in and out of it.

In the end though, it picked up and I listened to the second half very quickly.

The narration is excellent and did help to keep my interest.

If I hadn't already read The Girl on the Train, I think I would have given up on this before the end. I'm glad that I didn't, but I can't enthusiastically recommend it. It's worth a listen if you listen to lots of audios while you're also doing something else, but if your time is limited, I'd find something else.

Confusing and I satisfying

This was very hard to get into, I had to start again more than once. So many narrators telling disjointed stories. I persevered but the end was drawn out, and ultimately didn't feel quite right.
