She’s known nothing but darkness for 413 days… but he’ll burn down the world to save her.
After a year in captivity, Nova Monroe is back in Starlight Grove—but she’s not the same woman who vanished. She lives on the edge, chases adrenaline, and refuses to be caged again. Cliff diving. Mountain biking. Anything to feel alive and outrun the memories clawing at her.
But the single dad with shadows of his own won’t let her face it alone. Especially when she finds herself needing a place to stay.
Kol Archer has made it his mission to protect her. As a Forest Service investigator, he’s no stranger to rugged terrain or battling for control. But nothing prepared him for Nova—her fire, her fight, the way she makes him feel something he thought was lost.
The closer they get, the more dangerous things become. Someone doesn’t want Nova to move on. And Kol is determined to stop them—no matter the cost.
Because for the first time in forever, Nova’s not just surviving. She’s learning how to live, how to trust, and reminding Kol he can, too. But as darkness looms, the truth could destroy them both…
Into the Fading Twilight is a single dad, roommates-to-lovers, small-town romance about a woman starting over and a man who will do anything to keep her safe. This book can be read as a stand-alone.

I was so excited to read Nova & Kol’s story after the ending of book 1 & it did not disappoint! I was HOOKED. Personally, I was kept guessing until the finale & I’m not mad about that.
How they became each other’s safe space was so touching! I’m a fan of mental health rep in books, especially when it’s handled so sensitivity like this.
““You lived with a monster, just like I did. It makes sense why you understand me so well. I hate that that’s why. But I’m also grateful. Because the darkness doesn’t scare you. Because you lived in it, too.””
The exploration of Nova’s finding herself & reestablishing friendships was so emotional & definitely tugged in the heartstrings.
The found family aspect was so heartwarming & added such a lighthearted feel to what was some heavy themes at times, especially the humour between all the characters.
I love how the suspense & romance blends so well in these stories. Two books deep & Catherine is now an auto-read author.
I have so many questions for book 3 already & the wait for it is going to be painful! I am still anticipating Orion’s story too.
I immersive read this & the full cast was top tier 😮💨

Speaking of Skylar, I love how an overprotective dad gets to raise a badass wild child like Skylar, I loved that little whirlwind so much.
This book had me swooning one moment, crying the other and clasping my kindle at some points and I loved every second of it.
I gasped when I found out who the villain was.
The friendship between Brae and Nova and the connection between Kol and Nova made me cry and my heart melt, the tension of the mystery had me in edge and the humor and bond between the Archer brothers gave the heavier moments a lightness and it was a perfect mix of it all.
I admired Nova’s courage and her ability to trust and live again and kept her sense of humor through it all.
There are no words to describe how mich I loved Kol. Kol made me melt so many times, when he knew exactly what to say or do and the fact he is a girls dad helped too.
It was so much more than a romance story, I loved how Nova and Kol connected on a deeper level over loss, finding yourself again and building trust.
love the Archer brothers chaos so much

Investigator Kol is stalwart, steady and gives his love a safe space literally and figuratively.
Nova, the woman he saved from kidnap and torture, is rebuilding her life, but with humour and a level of independence which means you never see her as a victim, but a survivor. I am especially happy that there’s so much light and humour to balance the suspense.
I’m afraid the audio production needs attention though. The levels are all over the place - TH booms in your ear while others constantly need turning up. There also some distracting sibilance. It’s not the end of the world, but it does jar you out of the story, and considering this a big production I’d expect better.
Perfectly matched
