Summary

***Warning: sexual content. 18+ only***

I'd always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human-shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells, afraid to trust fully lest my oddities be exposed.

Until I saw him. He'd been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn't just that he was breathtakingly handsome, with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.

No one had noticed him. He'd been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.

I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn't stop until I unraveled his true identity.

I just had to know.

Not really a book in itself

This is very short and feels more like the first 3-4 chapters of a longer book. There is a LOT of sex and not that much story, though there is promise of a more intriguing tale if you're willing to pay for multiple books to find out. The narration is not great, very flat and laconic which undercuts any snap or humour to the writing. Not really worth a credit or more than a few pounds

I loved it!!

I've had this book for a yr or so now and I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it and the 2nd one I just wish the rest of the series was in audio because I never seem to find the time to read them, listen is so much easier I can do it when I'm going round the house making a cup of tea or most of the time when I'm laying in bed as I'm going off to sleep. there fantastic books thank you K. F. Breene.

Took some time to understand where this book was going, but when I did I got right into it. I is read well by Devra Woodward which helps the story flow.

cant wait for the next book.

Would you consider the audio edition of Into the Darkness to be better than the print version?

They are both equally good, the narrator did a very good job.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charles. He is so sweet and funny.

Which character – as performed by Devra Woodward – was your favourite?

I liked Charles and sasha.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Seductive, funny with adventure.

Any additional comments?

I really hope k f breene releases the rest of the series on audible.

Interesting....

Ok... this was different...

I like the story...but the cliffhanger ending was so expected... since I still don't know what the main characters are!!! There has to be a book 2, if not... then this story was simply incomplete.

So...the basic jest of the story is Shasha is unlike other humans in that she can sense shadows...or rather people in the shadows... She can see what "normal" humans cannot. Which we find out later, that Shasha unlike other humans can use magic. Seveyn is the "boss" or rather the leader of a group of a different race of humans. Seveyn's race is where the vampire legend comes from.

The story is confusing in that there is no name for Seveyn's race... what do we call him... so Shasha calls him a vamp...but is he? Then what is Shasha?

So... there is a lot of action and a fight scene when a rival (Seveyn's race) of people attack...but Shasha uses too much magic and ends up killing up the bad guys, but now she has to drink Seveyn's blood..which causes a bond... But wait... Shasha and Seveyn already have a bond!!! They are mates...which Seveyn nor Shasha have yet to figure out..

Don't get me wrong...this story was very good, and well worth the credit, buy or sale... I just feel incomplete... Only one smexy time between Seveyn and Shasha...but Shasha does get it on with her ....wait for it..... BOYFRIEND.... lol.... Luke... and Seveyn bangs this crazy b*tch once.... but IDK... like I said... this was a great story... very promising...but the ending... Geez.... at least tell me what my main characters are...

Seriously... this is totally worth a buy, credit or sale...

Narration was pretty good... No complaints...

the Book was better than the audio vision

i REALLY love this series. i have them all and have read them all. i finally listened to the audio version at work and i was falling asleep. i do not like the narrator at ALL. she has porno-perma-voice added to a lazy vocal style Like she's on a veranda in the South asking for a mint Julip or she has seen to many B movie vampire flicks. ALL the voices are lazy and drawn out and cheesy vampire. made me want to shake her.

love this series

I've read this book three times. I was really excited to see they have produced an audio book. it just made the story come alive. the narrator is one of the best I've heard. definitely recommended. I just hope they will make audio books of the other books in this series.

Meh

Not that good. The story lacked and the characters were dull. It’s also very short so it doesn’t lend to much development

Woot woot!

So glad I decided to look this up on audio. I absolutely have loved this series for years. It’s a definite re read :) I wish the rest of the series would come to audio. I fell in love with all these characters. They are funny and sexy, smart and vibrant. The story is so creative. I have the second in the series to listen to. Then it back to the books.

Really enjoyed this book

The world building was very interesting, the characters were easy to like and there was enough happening that it kept me entertained for most of the book.

I wish the main character was aged slightly older - she acted and had the knowledge of somebody at least in their late 20’s or early 30’s, but then the author told us she was only 22years. It sort of still worked because she grew up in foster care and was a ‘bit different’ her whole life, so maybe that’s were she got her amazing maturity.

I really liked the world that was created - it is sort of Illona Andrews meets Laurel K Hamilton - sex crazed vampires alongside really interesting magic,
