Story
It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten - my boyfriend is getting married. Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily-ever-after. On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married - his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation. There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland. Nothing and no one could convince me.

I keep my two worlds separate. At work, I'm King of Wall Street. The heaviest hitters in Manhattan come to me to make money. They do whatever I say because I'm always right. I'm shrewd. Exacting. Some say ruthless. At home, I'm a single dad trying to keep his 14-year-old daughter a kid for as long as possible. If my daughter does what I say, somewhere there's a snowball surviving in hell. And nothing I say is ever right. When Harper Jayne starts as a junior researcher at my firm, the barriers between my worlds begin to dissolve.

Story
Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She's tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she's a magnet for men who don't deserve her. A week's vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

It all started with a sexy selfie. Texted to the wrong number. Oops. Not my finest moment - but I have nothing to be ashamed of. She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douchebags she was never dating again. It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere - on the fiery and sharp-tongued Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text. The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Things didn’t exactly get off on the right foot with Noah Cavallari. Our first encounter was embarrassing, to say the least. Summary
Available in audio first, an intoxicating new romance by USA Today best-selling author Louise Bay!
Being labelled a player never stopped me from being successful with women. Until I met Truly Harbury. Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down. The first female friend I ever had. And she might just be the first woman with whom I ever fall in love.
When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world - taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out. The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.
She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing charmer. She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and takeout. What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her - the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.
She’s the first woman with whom I ever fell in love. I just need to know if she could ever love me, too.

dull
im on chapter 7 and ive had to false myself to listen this far...this is so dull with no life or excitement in it.the female narrator sounds dull and the story oh come on what woman makes her pregnant twin sister work even harder doing a job for charity because she doesn't feel capable of doing her sister's part of the job only letting the sister have 6 weeks maternity leave saying six hours without you is to long.hence the sister working even harder then collapsing due to a pregnancy condition usually brought on by stress high blood pressure with the mother and baby being put at risk.shes whiny needs to grow up the narration is grating on me.im going to give it a little longer but will probably give up has its predictable just how this will go

Louise Bay at her finest!
Before I start my review, I need to say that this is hands down one of the best books Louise has ever written!
Truly’s unrequited crush had all since been forgotten, that is until Noah comes back into her life after 4 years in the US. The last thing Truly needs is a distraction like Noah, but she is helpless to the gravitational pull her old friend unsuspectingly has on her.
Noah never realised how much he missed London until he was back and surrounding himself with his favourite people, realising just how much he’d missed Truly’s friendship. What he wasn’t prepared for was the feelings she stirred up from within him, from her total unawareness of just how beautiful and remarkable she was, to the complete dedication she had to making peoples lives better.
With both of them experiencing unexpected feelings, can they decipher what this means and follow their hearts? Or will their heads rule and leave their friendship potentially in tatters?
I can’t begin to tell you just how much I love this book. International Player reminded me of the astounding talent Louise has at producing the beautiful, emotional and heartwarming stories we love to read and listen to so much.
The narrators are perfect for this story, they depict the characters so well, I haven’t been able to stop listening to them and have since downloaded more Audio books with them both as the narrators!!!
The back story these characters shared gave it more depth, as you knew the feelings and emotions both of them were experiencing came from a foundation of mutual respect and friendship, it wasn’t just some random chance meeting, it was real, raw and honest. The fact that Truly wasn’t your typical Heroine made it even better, as you had no idea what she was going to do next. Shane and Saskia express the emotions and feelings of Truly and Noah as if they really were them, a match made in audible heaven!
Quite simply, this book is Louise Bay at her absolute finest and for me is a top favourite this year!
Congratulations Louise on an absolute blinder! A MASSIVE 5 bright and shiny stars!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh I loved this! Wonderful story, wonderful characters. Another Louise Bay classic. I've literally listened non stop from start to finish today, I absolutely adored these characters, such a rollercoaster of emotions. Truly and Noah are two sides of the same coin but they don't know it. One minute they had me swooning, the next I wanted to knock some sense in to them both. the narrators really bring the characters to life, they do Louise Bay's words total justice.

Truly has a crush on Noah but he’s a player, he’s definitely not the settling down type. Now he’s helping her with her pitching skills and her crush has shot up to another level.
Noah is a humble millionaire and loves spending time with his friend Truly who is gorgeous and geeky. It’s fun and fab with great narrators. I loved this book!!!

Slow Start — Excellent Story
Louise Bay has become one of my favorite authors, but at the beginning of this book I was disappointed. The female lead, Truly, seemed whiny and insecure to a fault. Annoying. But I should have had more faith in Louise.
What makes her books so great is her character development. That is what draws me into the story the most, with the well-written and very erotic sexual encounters adding a lot.
Noah, the male lead, is the man of anyone’s dreams, but he has issues too. The story of their working through them to their hea in a usually direct and honest way made this an outstanding read.

Interesting
Hmm Truly wasn’t my favorite female character at all, she needed a man to show her, her worth. I just don’t buy that. She and her sister both have their strengths sure but I don’t know I just didn’t get it.
I understand her need to keep what she and Noah have in this box but it was almost too boxy. That probably doesn’t make sense but I don’t know I guess I wanted something more. The chemistry was there but the friendship for me wasn’t and with the way, this book was presented I missed that I guess. I mean he helps her sure but maybe we are missing parts of the story because it felt rushed and not complete.
I enjoyed the narration. It didn’t scream out to me.

What did you love best about this story?
This is a beautiful story about two friends that decided to have something more, something casual with no strings attached and failed because what they feel for each other was bigger than what they’ve thought.
What about Shane Easton & Saskia Maarleveld’s performance did you like?
I love the narrations, Shane Easton did an amazing job as Noah, his accent was perfect and it would make you feel goosebumps each time he speaks. And Saskia Maarleveld was amazing as Truly, especially when she narrates Truly’s feelings and insecurities. I love how both narrators make us feel the characters feelings.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Noah is inspiring, he’s a fighter, he overcomes tragedy and now he makes sure to LIVE his life at maximum and he makes Truly to overcome her insecurities too, he makes her be a better version of herself.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. This is a beautiful story, it showed us how to overcome from a tragedy and insecurities. Two amazing human beings who are better together, very inspiring.
Any additional comments?
I can’t wait to read the ebook version of International Player. It’s coming on April 30th.

EXASPERATING FEMALE LEAD
I will start by saying that Saskia Maarleveld and Shane East narrated beautifully. However, the story was frustrating and the heroine was way beyond exasperating.
I will not leave spoilers, but I will say that the heroine would have been better off if she would have used a "Magic 8 Ball" to decide her life, instead of using her twisted logic to do it. She made decisions based on what other people said she should do, or on what she assumed they would think she should do, instead of talking things out.
Six hours into the book and she finally spills her crazy beans, and she wants the hero to make a snap decision guaranteeing her a lifelong commitment. I just couldn't connect with her, and her illogical drawn-out internal monologues.
I have most of Louise Bay's books (ebooks and audiobooks) and I have loved most of them, but this story was just not for me.
I am in the minority with my less-than-stellar review, so don't pass it up just because the story was not for me.

A solid story. Great narration.
This is a very Louise Bay story... Well developed characters, emotionally engaging and a solid romance overall. Not too heavy on the drama yet still had enough to keep me pressing play. I one observation about this story would be that I felt the leading female character gave herself too much of a hard time with her self esteem. I found it as a let down how she saw herself not only worthy of Noah's attention, but the many comparisons between her sister and her was a bit of a turn off for me. If felt in a way like a Cinderella story in the fact that she had to grow into her own skin and accept herself during the process, but even by the end the insecurities took too much of her head space. The narration for both characters was excellent!!!

WINNER!!
I live for discovering new authors, so I jumped at the chance to give Louise Bay a try. International Player delivered more than I was expecting. Great characters, sexy accents and a heartwarming romance. Truly and Noah are both running from something. Truly spends her time stuck in the shadows of her more vibrant twin. Noah spends his days trying to escape painful memories of a childhood he'd rather forget. East and Maarleveld guide readers into a world of heartbreaking tragedy, inspiring strength and unforgettable romance. Bay strikes at the heart.. International Player appeals to the emotions and that 's what makes it a winner.

Good solid story, fantastic performance
Saskia Maarleveld and Shane East gave an outstanding performance. I really enjoyed their light British accents. Saskia Maarleveld has an incredibly expressive voice. Her tones really share the feelings Truly is struggling with. Shane East, I mean, can have even narrate something badly? And when he goes all sexual... chills and goosebumps! Seriously, he was talking about a first kiss and it was one of those first kisses that I felt!!
The story itself was enjoyable. I really liked Truly. She struggles with so many insecurities. She's a woman that I can relate to. She's strong and capable, yet, she struggles with believing in herself. Noah is a man of strong and ethical character. I fell for him the moment he started showing Truly how wonderful SHE is. She's always comparing herself to others and she doesn't think she measures up. I love watching her find her way... super enjoyable!

Love Louise❤️
Another great story by Louise Bay. Love these narrators, too. I enjoy stories when the heroine doesn't realize that she's beautiful and sexy and smart.
