Story
What if your whole world was a lie? What if a single revelation - like a single choice - changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected? The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered - fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

The Hunger Games meets Lost in this spectacular new series. Now a major TV series on E4. No one has set foot on Earth in centuries - until now. Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, 100 juvenile delinquents - considered expendable by society - are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission.

Story
When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he's not alone. He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade - a walled encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible stone maze. Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there - or what's happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything - even the Grievers, half-machine, half-animal horror that patrol its corridors, to try and find out.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. Absorbing dystopian fiction
What did you like most about Insurgent?
Beatrice's world is convincing and intriguing, and I enjoyed the way the story progressed, revealing more about the factions and their relationships as the book goes on.
What did you like best about this story?
The initiation process Beatrice goes through to join her chosen faction.
Which character – as performed by Emma Gavin – was your favourite?
It'd have to be Beatrice, as it's told in the first person we get to know her pretty well!
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I believe the film is already in production, but something like:
'In a world where your choices are made for you, one girl will learn to think for herself...'
Any additional comments?
The reader is very good, I find female narrators a little shrill sometimes, but Emma Gavin has an expressive and pleasant voice, and she convinced as Beatrice. If you enjoyed the Hunger Games, then this book shares much of its tone and themes, I recommend it!

Great story, struggled with narration
Would you listen to Insurgent again? Why?
I would not but that is because I am not one for re-reading events
What other book might you compare Insurgent to, and why?
I cannot compare it to another book it is quite unique. A teen fiction of sorts I read years ago and decided to listen to this again after the film came out.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I enjoyed reading the story however I don't like the narration in the audio version, the accent seemed to flat.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There are some parts that have a level of humour and scary parts as well.
Any additional comments?
I would be more inclined to read this rather than listen

Where is this story going?
Is there anything you would change about this book?
im not sure the author actually knew where she was going with the plot of this book. It took forever to reveal the secret that marcus was keeping, and even then it really wasnt clear. Why does Tris keep making promises she doesnt intend to keep? it just doesnt make any sense why four is with her!
Would you be willing to try another book from Veronica Roth? Why or why not?
i loved Divergent, friends recommended i didnt bother with allegient - i read he synopsis on wkipedia, the plot goes crazy.
What does Emma Galvin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
love her as the voice of Tris, she has a very natural - teen sound.
Was Insurgent worth the listening time?
yes if you want to know the big secret
Any additional comments?
didnt bother with allegient - it just seemed to get weirder

Brilliant trilogy
What made the experience of listening to Insurgent the most enjoyable?
The reader's voice is very soothing and perfect for the role of Tris. The entire trilogy was brilliant because of her voice.
What other book might you compare Insurgent to, and why?
Hunger games trilogy. The plots are very similar
Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No. I believe this was the first
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES

A very good follow on book
Where does Insurgent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is not a top ranking book but a good book to fill time when doing boring tasks, not one i would just stop everything to listen to.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the first and now the second book, if you like the rise and fight back of the down trodden then you will enjoy this, also has a few good twists like the first book. Will definitely get the third book.

Only read if you can take it.
Would you try another book written by Veronica Roth or narrated by Emma Galvin?
I thought Emma Galvin did a wonderful job reading so I'd definitely try her work again. As for Veronica Roth, I'd probably tread carefully from now on.
What was most disappointing about Veronica Roth’s story?
It was simply too brutal for me. I thought the first book was interesting, the characters well rounded, but eventually it became the book equivalent of an ego shooter game for me. It turned so bleak that I simply couldn't stick with it anymore.
Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No, this was my first.
Do you think Insurgent needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Well it has a follow up book. I read a plot summary and decided to stop listening immediately when I did. There is only so much bleakness I find enjoyable.
Any additional comments?
This is a well written book. If unhappy situations don't put you off then I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'm too sensitive though and if you're a parent reading this, I'd certainly think twice before letting my child enjoy this.

An excellent second chapter
Emma Galvin performs this audiobook extremely well. Although she could do more with her voice tone to distinguish between the male and female characters a bit better. My only critique with the author is that the personality of Tris is so inconsistent. She has so many mood swings...

Ok, but not a great YA novel, bit formulaic
A good light read, nothing too Earth shattering, with ok writing. Not as well written as The Hunger Games, not as amazing as The Knife of Never Letting Go, or as harrowing as The Way I Live Now. There are many other much better written YA books out there, but this is still fine, and well read.

A brilliant follow up story
A brilliant follow up story, I can't wait to hear the third part of the series especially as the second film is about to be released. The book was a great and fast paced journey except around the two thirds part where I felt it slowed down and stalled just a bit. I also thought the story telling was a little to monotone for my liking and that most likely is not the book readers fault, but probably has more to do with how the actual main characters personality is portrayed. It has a fantastic ending with a twist that I personally did not quite expect that has left me quite literally hanging on the edge of my seat to hear the next part of the story.

Meh.
While I enjoyed the first book in this series, based on this book, I will not finish the trilogy. It lacked so much that the first book had. I didn't care for any of the characters, didn't feel for any of them and I couldn't have cared if they lived or died. Frankly I don't remember who is doing what and where or with who because I just stopped caring. Perhaps a second listen could convince me otherwise but I doubt that I'll bother.
