Story
Christianity is a surprising religion. It has changed the world in remarkable ways throughout history simply through Christians living out their faith. More recently, we've become afraid of a habituated Christianity, thinking that routines will rob our faith of its vitality. The net effect is that we've replaced the habits that surprise the world with habits that mimic the world―and both we and the world suffer for it.

Summary
The story of Christianity is a story of incarnation - God taking on flesh and dwelling among the people he created. God appointing and sending people as his body, his hands and feet. Disciples of Jesus bearing the good news even as they bear the marks of his passion. Whatever Christianity is, it is at least a matter of flesh and blood and the ends of the earth. And yet so much of contemporary Christian culture is rooted not in incarnation but in escape - escape from the earth to heaven, escape from the suffering of this world, escape even from one another.
Christianity is increasingly understood as something personal, conceptual, interior, private, neighbor-less. If Jesus was God incarnate, the church is in danger of being excarnate. Michael Frost expertly and prophetically exposes the gap between the faith we profess and the faith we practice. And he offers new hope for how the church can fulfill its vocation: to be the hands and feet of Christ to one another and to our neighbors, to the ends of the earth and to the end of the age.

A Timely Call To Embodied Faith
Where does Incarnate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
"Incarnate" is an excellent audiobook that brings to life the idea of incarnating our faith in an age of disengagement.
What did you like best about this story?
Drawing from experience, cultural hotspots & a rich faith, the book offers a hopeful and attainable alternative to our disconnected culture.
What about William Neenan’s performance did you like?
Neenan's performance was clear and engaging, though knowing that Frost is Australian made the read strange in some ways.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The book made me "Aha!" out loud many times. It is captivating and interesting throughout.
Any additional comments?
An excellent resource for every audiobook library.

An Outstanding Work not to be missed!
If you are weary of the futility of living the typical cultural Christian experience and desire the world changing power that was demonstrated by Christ and the early church then this book is for you. The author has the passion, conviction, scholarship, and experiential knowledge to deliver a hammer blow to dead religion and provide a practical road map to a vibrant "incarnate" faith. The reader served the writing well.

Lots to think about
I'm not sure that I entirely age with the author's definition of what is or is not excarnate ministry or life practice, but there is tonnes to think about in this book. Enough, in fact, that I'm likely to buy a hard copy to chew over.
The recording was great. My only problem is that on occasion the text refers to figures but the reader never rada the figure, so I'm left wondering what it might have added to help with understanding. Great reader, though.
