Summary

This book is dedicated to exploring the gods and goddesses that the Incas on the American continent worshiped, and within the pages, you will find subtopics like:

  • Historical background of the Inca empire before the colonists arrived
  • The myths about creation, death, procreation, and more
  • Strange gods and goddesses they worshipped - sometimes in brutal, macabre ways
  • The polytheist Inca religion
  • Child sacrifices and inhumane rituals as part of idol worship
  • Typical elements that made up the Inca civilization

Inca mythology is intricate, complex, and the ideals behind their mythological beliefs were often intertwined with real-life events. This book will examine how both myth and fact contributed to the culture and traditions of the Inca and how these influences and some stories continue to live on throughout the centuries.

Incas and mayas and stuff

I know all about it from history classes, but listening to it is so much better than having to read about it in a book.

repetitive and limited information

the narrator gives no enthusiam to the narration, and what limited and vague information that was given sounded like a high schooler trying to hit a word limit on his essay. He repeates sentences word by word with the same information about every 10 minutes. He claims there is not alot of information about the culture, but dont believe it. Look for some other audiobook if you want to learn about the incas.

Very Informal

Quick easy listen. Very well laid out. I actually will listen to this again, after I re-read the Popol Vuh.

Not for everyone

Since I went to Machu Picchu a few months ago, I became very interested in Inca history and culture. I was amazed by their Civilization and this book provided me with a much clearer knowledge of these amazing people. I enjoyed it. Very informative.
