I read the reviews and thought this looked promising. After about 30 mins I started messing about with the speed because I just couldn’t cope with how the narrator made every sentence so dramatic and infuriatingly annoying. I can usually find a way to finish a book as I hate giving up on a story but I got about an hour and a half in and just had to throw the towel in. I am going to go and look for the book on my kindle app. I don’t usually like to be negative about the narrator’s as I am sure it’s not an easy thing to do and can usually find a way to listen. But I found myself feeling more and more irritated by her and couldn’t focus on the story. But looking at the reviews this could be just me. 😬

Narrator was far too dramatic!!

Really well read with strong characters and a fantastic plot (no spoilers!). Kept me gripped all the way through. Also a really great portrayal of the lovely Kent Countryside. Can’t wait for the next one please. 😊

Kept me guessing to the end!

A cosy read that is full of intrigue, and the plot-line keeps you gripped right through to the end. The characters are engaging and well drawn, and the reader has a beautiful voice, that is completely right for the book. A most enjoyable book to listen to.

Engaging and gripping

The story was decent, who doesn't like a murder set in the English countryside, but, oh dear, that narrator! Completely wrong for the main character, a 47 year old woman, and the children's voices were just unbearable. Ok for a heroine in a teen book, but her overextended vowels and breathy gasps were risable. Truly ruined it for me. I won't be listening to any more books voiced by this narrator, sorry

Wrong narrator!
