Summary
In A House of Lies...
Everyone has something to hide.
A missing private investigator is found locked in a car hidden deep in the woods. Worse still - both for his family and the police - the body was in an area that had already been searched 10 years ago.
Everyone has secrets.
Detective Inspector Siobhan Clarke is part of a new inquiry, combing through the mistakes of the original case. There were always suspicions over how the investigation was handled, and now - after a decade without answers - it's time for the truth.
Nobody is innocent.
Every officer involved must be questioned, and it seems everyone on the case has something to hide - and everything to lose.
None more so than Detective John Rebus.

great story narrated really well
I am a big fan of Ian Rankin but this was the first time I'd listened to one of his books and I really enjoyed it. Great narrator too which made all the difference.

Another gripping storyline
Top listen as always. Pacey and interesting, usual great attention to detail without diluting the plot.

Rebus on fine form as usual.
Great stuff from Ian Rankin as always. All of the characters intertwining and weaving stories is gripping and very satisfying.

24-Carat Rebus !
This was a really excellent Rebus. Various threads skilfully interwoven to make for a thoroughly entertaining story. As always James Macpherson’s narration is the icing on the cake with every character convincing and easily recognisable. Highly recommended !

Another good listen
Another good listen but not one of Rankin's best Rebus stories.
Really good narration which was easy to listen to with good characterisation. , story flowed well but didn't have the bite like other John Rebus books.

great story, but probably best enjoyed in print
Great plot, characters and 'banter ' between them. As an audiobook this is problematic though because so much of the tale is told through the characters in their voices. Macpherson works hard to differentiate characters' voices and accents but for me it just doesn't quite 'sound right'. So, some reservations about a Scottish man impersonating an English woman but setting this aside it was enjoyable listen.
