Summary

For 2,000 years, Earth and her many colonies across the galaxy have fought against the Estelian menace. Having faced overwhelming losses, the CSC has instituted the largest military draft ever, conscripting millions into the battle against the aliens. Major Bartram North, Chief Training Officer on the CSC Training Station Perpetuity, has been tasked with the unenviable task of coordinating the military education of hundreds of thousands of recruits and turning them into troops ready to fight and die for the cause.

As Major North struggles to maintain a training pace that the CSC insists upon, he realizes something isn't right on the Perpetuity. But before he can investigate, the station dissolves into madness brought on by the physical booster known as pharma. Unfortunately for Major North, that is not the only nightmare he faces- an armada of Estelian warships is on the edge of the solar system and headed right for Earth!

Major North has one chance to find out the truth, rescue the Perpetuity from its madness, and defend the Earth from attack, or all of humanity could be lost forever!

Bible blows it out of the park as usual

If you haven’t listened to or read a jake bible book I have to say get your head out of the sand and get to gettin. Not really for young listeners. Myself and my teen boy love these stories. Bible created yet another gritty sci-fi story and universe to go with it. Fans of starship troopers will love this. A universal spanning war. A race of alien doppelgängers, conspiracies, espionage, battles in both ground and space. Just fantastic story telling and the narrator does a spot on job conveying the authors message. Highly recommend this story and all the rest he writes. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Good book, but not his best.

I believe Mr Jake writes some good stories, and the Performances are all good to listen to. I don't mean that this wasn't a good Audiobook, because it was. It was just written in a simpler manner than what I expected from Mr Jake. But as I haven't the time to read, this was still a good Audiobook to listen to.

Not Jake's best

I'm a huge Jake Bible fan. Own literally everything he's published. This one just... didn't work for me. I usually don't have a problem with the language in his books, but this one just seemed over the top. I get what he was trying to do with the drill sergeants and such but it felt so forced, crude just for the sake of being crude and uninspired. Additionally while I don't know if Jake has been in the military the way officers, training and other stuff was depicted just seemed stereo-typical and 'off'. Additionally the story was pretty easy to predict. Sorry Jake, Give me Mechs, give me Zombie killing Uber-Sisters but stay away from military sci-fi apparently. I received this book for free at my request in exchange for a fair review.

Not Bible's best

In Perpetuity By: Jake Bible Narrated by: Michael T. Bradley I love Bible's work and have chalked up many but this is not one of my favorites. It reminded me of a soldier zombie book. The evil characters tried too hard to be evil. There was a nice twist at the end but I kinda knew that was coming. If you're looking for one of his good ones try Flipside! It's sci-fi also! The narration was fairly well performed.

Space Survival

Going in I read complaints(in other reviews) of F-bombs. While they were certainly present I felt they fit the context of the story/situation. Overall I found things interesting and fun, but a bit shallow in the character department. As the story hops around, I couldn't relate(to previous events) what character we were in or what they've done up to that point to be special. Having read other books by the author I can say this isn't a common problem in his work. Where the disconnect for the genre happens, in my opinion, is that this feels like zombie survival without zombies, instead of space opera. I'd like to see more in the series, building on the characters in the end. This is where the book takes a twist that turns it into the space opera I believe many thought it would be from the start.

Didn't make it past the first chapter

due to all the foul language and I do mean really foul! There were words used that made me cringe and others that left me completely aghast.

Decent First Try

I guessed the plot early, evil rich people faking a war to control everything. Still an author can make it work with a few twists. None here. The characters were mostly flat. Overstated and repeated. Less can be more. yeah, yeah, I know what cliches are. I was tempted at times to stop, but I did listen all the way through. Some more thought in the writing with some better editing could salvage much, but making more real characters I care about is topmost here.
