This is volume 2 of a world building series. If you have dived in mid series, don't panic, the author kindly included clip notes on volume 1. In the first book, the worlds and people of the Imperium were sketched in enough that we all knew who they are and what their allergenics were. Now the author adds colour and shape to those things, but also pushes us in our assumptions on who is good and bad, brilliantly done.

Also a quick note on the narrator. I honestly try to avoid author narrated books as they tend to sound like "Speak your Weight Machines", this is the exception. Each character has their own "Voice" and the quite quickly I didn't need to be told who was speaking as it was obvious.

Roll onto to volume 3!

When it comes to world building there are few comparable authors.

Even better when the author is a very competent narrator and narrates his own book. The voices are very easy to follow and keep track of.

The story moves on at a fair pace and it's clearly written and is a delight to "read"
