About this listen

Immortality comes at a steep price.

Faced with a heartrending loss, Lox walks down a dark path. He knew there would be a cost for immortality, but he didn’t know he would have to face it so soon.

He must make decisions he never thought he would face.

A darkness is lingering in the world. Maybe what it needs right now isn’t a hero to save it, but a monster to hunt the bigger monsters threatening all of existence.

Rage guides Lox's path. But will that be enough to hold off the coming darkness? Or will consume him first?

Don't miss this epic LitRPG/GameLit series that features leveling, advanced magic systems, dungeon crawling, world exploration, and much more. It's perfect for fans of books like Emarilia, World Tree, and Ascend Online.

If the author authorised those awful accent changes, the reading style and tone, as well as the final master, they've lost my support going forward.

1. The characters had re-established accents and tones. Why change it just for a new voice actor? Have them copy the previous VA's stuff. Or, you know, rehire the same VA as before.

2. The voice actor has a real issue with infections. There are loads of times he stops speaking when it, tonally, doesn't make sense.

3. Whoever approved the final master should be reprimanded. The speaking pace is much to fast, requiring x0.90 speed to be comfortable.

4. The story is essentially angry, edgelord Lox going on a rampage. Maybe, just maybe, you have security for a royal visit? Maybe, just maybe, the former black ops specialist in charge would know how to organise state security to some level of competence.

5. Whilst I'm here, a pet peeve from the first four books: Lox is great friends with a former black ops specialist. Why the hell didn't he ask them to get in contact with some former Earth colleagues to either off Ike, or intimidate the living hell out of gin, especially when they learned of the repercussions his actions had back on Earth?! /rant
