Abridged

I was disappointed this was an abridged version. I think this needs to be made clearer.

Good narrator, short text

The narrator is awesome, as well as the story. However, the text is shortened and doesn't adjust to the hardcover edition of the book.

Too Short

Having read & enjoyed the book some time ago I was looking forward to hearing the audio version. To say that this book is "abridged" is an understatement. I'm sure that if there was a Cliff Notes version of this book it would contain 10 times the information than this audio version.

"AAA"bridged version

The audio book is toooo short. It's a really "A"bridged version of the book. Good material. But not enough for a book.

Not the full book

This is not the full book. Just a small part of it. I was listening to it and reading it from Amazon's Look Inside at the same time. Paragraphs were being skipped and then entire chapters. Misleading.

A disappointment

This is a wonderful book in its entirety. However this very badly abridged recording is less than a Cliffs Notes summary. Thumbs down.

Highly abridged version

Whole chapters are missing from the book. I have it in paperback in a box in the closet, I bought the audiobook because my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, and this is nowhere near all of the material in the hardcopy. What's there is good, but what's missing makes it not worth buying.

Very little substance

What disappointed you about If You Meet the Buddha On the Road, Kill Him?

I found very little of substance here... lots of long, drawn out stories followed by an attempt to draw a lesson or piece of information to learn from, but mostly it falls flat. To be fair this edition is SO abridged that I wonder if the actual book would deliver a totally different message. But for this audiobook, thumbs down.

What didn’t you like about MIchael McConnohie’s performance?

The music in the background was both distracting and made the narrator hard to hear.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyed at the lack of real substance.

Oldie but a Goodie

this is an old recording, but Sheldon Kopp lays out a rich and heartfelt description of a topic that will always be relevant in the clinical setting. May we all have the wisdom not to fall pray to the guru, internal or external, that places themselves above others.

Short and somewhat interesting

The book was recommended to me by a friend. Not knowing what to expect, it started strong with the opening. After that it was okay, not bad not great. There's some things to be learnt but if you're looking for help with a spiritual journey I'd look elsewhere. At the same time it's not the best for learning or for its stories. Its short though so it's not too long to give a try and see if you like it. I must say I wasn't bored through any of it.
