touching story highlighting the struggles to fame

This is the first book I have read /listened to by Angie Stanton and to be honest I dodnt know anything about it when I started apart from the fact that the cover had me really intrigued. Throughout the book I found myself honestly rooting for Chelsea especially after hearing all the back story . I love broadway and west end and love how the author tied it into the search for fame. it is a wonderful romantic tale in the sense that the characters actually got to know each other on a meaningful basis At times the novel was deep and touching. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Adorable romance for dancers and thespians!

Thank you to Angie Stanton for giving me a free audiobook in return for an honest review. If Ever is a lovely, easy read that follows everyday girl Chelsea, who gains a part on a celebrity dance show after a drunken audition. Chelsea struggles with being 'the nobody' around high maintenance celebrities and trying to find her place in the show. Eventually, she meets Broadway actor, Tom, and sparks begin to fly.  Characters are really likable and story flows well. Narrator Nicci Hejnar was a good choice for the audiobook. She read the book perfectly with so many different voices to help differentiate characters. Her English accent for Tom seemed to waver between normal English and Dick Van Dkye English at times, but considering she possible held that accent for around half of the book, I think she did a great job. There were a couple of editing issues in the book; parts where Hejnar would obviously stop and restart but it wasn't cut out properly, so sentences would be repeated or mistakes wouldn't be cut. Don't let that stop you from listening to this audiobook however, I'd really recommend it. This book is great for romance lovers who are interested in dance and performing arts. It really is a stage kid's fantasy and I really enjoyed it.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING

Well written and interesting storyline, it takes a twist in the first part that surprised me. But in a good way. I fell in love with the characters and was completely into the ups and downs of their tenuous relationship. It has sweet and hot romance with a thankfully HEA. First time I’ve listened to the audio performance of Nicci Hejnar. A job very well done. I Was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. My review is HONEST. 👍🏻👍🏻 TWO THUMBS UP!

What a Great Story!

This book is fantastic! Chelsea and Tom (and everyone else) are written so well that it feels like they are your friends. The narration is so good, that it feels like you're hanging with those friends and they're telling you all about their adventures. It's really great! I couldn't stop listening. I swear the description of the dance show seems like it's spot on. I can just see everything described taking place. You really need this book. This is the first by this author that I've read, but it certainly isn't going to be the last. I was given a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

A wild and passionate whirlwind

I do not watch reality tv shoes, but oddly enough, I've read or listened to several different novels using the platform as a backdrop (Curtis Sittenfeld's Eligible and J. Bengtsson's The Theory of Second Best spring most readily to mind). Ms. Stanton does a superb job conveying the intensity, chaos, and wild exuberance inherent to the experience. Heroine Chelsea spends the first half (third?) of the story dancing her feet and untrained limbs to near exhaustion in an unexpected appearance on a celebrity dancing contest after having accidentally ended up the series' first "unknown" contestant. There she eventually meets Tom, a singer, and from that point on, we're dealing with a will-they or won't-they end-up-together love story. The scene switches from sultry LA to winter-time New York City, where the author brings the sights and sounds of the theater district to vibrant life. On the east coast Tom's theatrical career is centerstage, and Chelsea must decide if she can tamp down her own insecurities and accept a starring role in his life. I wanted at times to shake some confidence into Chelsea, but the story held my complete attention right to the end, and I truly enjoyed it. That said, I felt the ending was just a bit too abrupt (an epilogue would have capped it off perfectly), and there were weirdly long pauses in the narration between chapters. All told, though, it was a great listen. I've read two other titles by Ms. Stanton (Waking in Time and Snowed Over), and her versatility in storytelling is truly admirable. I look forward to exploring more of the author's work.

a beautiful romance

What a fun and beautiful romance read. This is the romance of Chelsea and Tom with a story line that is fun, if sometimes a little over the top. While I love the main characters for reasons I'll list in a moment - I also love Dominic and Hugh's characters as well as Tom's siblings and friends. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of the book - you can read that before hand, but what I will tell you is that the story line flows beautifully, the narration is spot on - loved the accents Hejnar used that brought these characters to life while listening. So, the main characters: I loved Chelsea's character - her verbal mishaps made me laugh out loud more than once and her broken vulnerability brought tears to my eyes and I completely understood how she misread some of the situations. Tom's character while not as broken although he wasn't as open with himself at times, was wonderful in all he was willing to be for Chelsea. I loved their story of love, overcoming trials, strength and a willingness to be vulnerable - because you have to be vulnerable to be loved, allow love and love others... This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Beautifully written

Thomas and Chelsea's love story will have you rooting, laughing, and crying with both sadness and happiness. The perfect love story, I didn't want it to end. As a matter of fact, I am listening to it again! Right now! Seriously!

Characters you'll love to read about

The characters are the star of the story. They are funny and leap off the page with personality and wit. The story, however, is several hours too long. It really drags, and not even the witty characters can save it from periods of utter boredom. It is a good story and written well though. I will definitely keep my eye out for further works by this author. The narrator was great and engaging. Cute but obnoxious at times

The first half of this book starts strong as a heroine is thrown into the world of a celebrity dance competition as the first non-celebrity contestant. I loved the use of terms and preparation for each taped show as it really made things come alive. It’s weird because I think where the book lags a little is the romance. You assume she’s going to have a romance with her dance partner but it’s actually an actor/singer who sings during her performances. Because it takes so long for that romance to blossom, you get thrown back into the competition at times and get caught up in it until the heroine and her partner’s time on the show comes to an end. By now, we’re halfway through and the first half feels like a very different book than the last half. The second half focuses on the romance(because that’s how long the 12 hr read takes to get to the meat of it) and it was confusing at times because there was so little each character talked about themselves before the hero and heroine take their romantic relationship seriously. It was just an awkward fit. I loved the dance competition part, I for the most part enjoyed the half that just focused on their relationship. If they were separate books I’d love them. But there were some comments about gayness that kinda made me feel it was an ill fit for the tone of the book, because I think it was meant to be funny but as a queer person I wasn’t laughing. It was 3.5-3.75 but I’d recommend it to readers looking for books where dance competitions are a big part of the book.

Fun, sweet romance with a reality show vibe...

If Ever by Angie Stanton is a fun, cute romance with a HEA, though there are a few hiccups that the characters have to get through before they find their HEA. This story reads like a movie-I could picture the characters perfectly. If Ever will remind you of what you imagine that Dancing with the Stars might be like, though by chance, Chelsea isn't a star, but ends up getting paired up with the favorite male dancer, Dominic. After a bumpy start, Chelsea and Dom end up finding their groove on the show, and Chelsea also meets Broadway star Thomas Oliver. Just when you think that Chelsea's story might be over, she and Tom build their relationship as a long distance thing and then eventually, she moves to New York to give their relationship a real chance. This is their story. Nicci Hejnar did a good job narrating this tale. At first I wasn't really sure about it, but quickly fell into her narration, which I found to be the perfect speed at 1.5x. I thought she did a good job with the accents and both male and female characters in the story, and didn't think that a male narrator was necessary at all. I'd recommend this book for those looking for a bit of a Cinderella story. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review. An enjoyable read

I really enjoyed listening to this story. I liked the behind the scenes look at the reality dance show. I liked the main characters and their story. I like how they fell in love. There we parts of the story that were pretty heartbreaking too. This was a great read and will pull on your heart strings a time or two. I would highly recommend this book to others who enjoy romance and reality tv. I am not one that watches a lot of it but I do like dancing and singing shows. The narrator was wonderful and had a nice voice. I would listen to another book read by her.

Great story and narration!

I thought this book was all around excellent. I finally found a book that I was bummed to have it end. I loved the author's style, the storyline, the narrator's voice, everything! The narrator did an amazing job of changing her voice for all of the characters as well- male, female, accents... I wish this was a series!
