Summary

A gripping story of friendship and betrayal from international best-selling author Adele Parks.

This audiobook includes an exclusive interview between Adele Parks and Badass Women’s Hour’s Harriet Minter. Keep listening after the credits to hear them explore the characters and themes within the book and talk about everything from Adele’s writing process to the biggest twists and turns in I Invited Her In.

I invited her in...and she took everything.

When Mel hears from a long-lost friend in need of help, she doesn’t hesitate to invite her to stay. Mel and Abi were best friends back in the day, sharing the highs and lows of student life, until Mel’s unplanned pregnancy made her drop out of her studies.

Now, 17 years later, Mel and Abi’s lives couldn’t be more different. Mel is happily married, having raised her son on her own before meeting her husband, Ben. Now they share gorgeous girls and have a chaotic but happy family home, with three children.

Abi, meanwhile, followed her lover to LA for a glamorous life of parties, celebrity and indulgence. Everything was perfect, until she discovered her partner had been cheating on her. Seventeen years wasted, and nothing to show for it. So what Abi needs now is a true friend to lean on, to share her grief over a glass of wine, and to have some time to heal. And what better place than Mel’s house, with her lovely kids and supportive husband....

This dark, unsettling tale of the reunion of long-lost friends is thoroughly gripping exploration of wanting what you can’t have, jealousy and revenge from Sunday Times best seller Adele Parks.

Not a Thriller!!

Well......definitely not a dark, gripping, unsettling story as described!! Was waiting and waiting all the way through for it to get started and the 'gripping' storyline to begin, sadly it never happened. I guessed who Liam's dad was from the start, so that wasn't even a 'shocker' either!! Bit of a boring story really, that I only kept listening to in the hope that something was going to happen. Brilliant Narration though, really well read.

Great

Good girly book but it was a bit predictable, the ending few lines shocked me though! Great narration. Not really a thriller.

Loved it!

An easy listening book, with lots of twists and turns emotionally. Story can be a bit predictable in places but loved working out if I was right or not. Worth a listen!

Predictable

Entertaining enough to hold interest & with great narration, but entirely predictable & a little far fetched. Was a very easy listen though.

suspense to enjoyment ratio

Definitely get this book. It''s good book and my review is really about the 1 star that I knocked off.
Loved Mel but her naiveté felt a bit forced. She was in the clouds in love with Abi. Which at some point I felt like screaming, "have some self respect woman!"

The arc was halfway through the book and I wondered how much more suspense I could take. I felt there were too too many "dun dun dun" moments. Not enough to stop reading but enough to leave me exhausted at the end of the book.

There is an interview with Adele Parks at the end that I couldn't even bring myself to listen to as at this point I was just wishing Mel, Liam, Ben a happy life. I was done!

Predictable

It’s odd because the reviews are top notch but I found this book dull because it all seemed very obvious: who Liam’s father was, what Abi’s agenda is, what Mel was keeping secret. It’s perfectly readable but nothing was a surprise. Joanne Froggatt superb as always.

Enjoyable but very predictable

Overall I enjoyed this book & it was very well narrated but I knew what was going to happen in the second chapter!
