About this listen
And Jenna Chen will only ever be a disappointment.
So when Jenna makes a desperate wish to become her cousin, the last thing she expects is for it to come true—literally. All of a sudden she gets to live the life she’s always dreamed of . . . but being the model student at cutthroat Havenwood Private Academy isn’t quite what she’d imagined. Worse, people seem to be forgetting that someone named Jenna Chen ever existed. But isn’t it worth trading it all away—her artistic talent, her childhood home, even the hope of golden boy Aaron Cai loving her back—to be Jessica Chen?
* Kids' Indie Next Pick *
I really resonated with this book as I too had an academically stellar cousin, my very own Jessica Chen, feeling inferior. This brought back some very painful memories, some anxiety and self loathing. Despite this, I had goosebumps, sat completely silently, hanging onto every single word. I definitely want to come back to this and actually read the words, absolutely sure that I’ll start weeping, due to the emotional connection towards my past self.

Ann Liang’s writing in this book felt so simple yet so poetic - I highlighted so many beautiful and heart wrenching quotes. I felt so much sympathy for Jenna and her struggles. A beautiful story with lots of food for thought for anyone at any age.
“success is only meant to be rented out, borrowed in small doses at a time, never to be owned completely, no matter what price you're willing to pay for it.”
Beautiful and healing
