Disturbing

A horrifying story of a young woman who suffers unimaginable cruelty and abuse, a good man who wants to save her and a town that turns a blind eye to what has been happening. The shocking ending left me stunned.

Ruined by ending

The narrator did a good job, and the storyline and mystery were plausible, albeit a struggle to hear, at times, because of the topic. But there was not immense detail, just enough to know what was happening. Still, eventually, it didn't hold my attention. And I was ready for it to end. The ending provides a few answers but then creates a huge new question. Horribly so. And the reason for it or logic of it is in serious question.

A Disturbing Tale

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. They say it takes a village to raise a child, the flip side of that is a village ignoring a child will ruin one. Elle has a terrible life with her father, he's sold her, beat her and used her from a very young age. But the people that abused her are now disappearing. Elle has hidden in her own mind and will not face the truth of her life. A new detective in town wants to find the truth. A suspenseful tale of horrors no child or woman should ever have to face, with an unexpected ending. You'll find yourself hanging on every word, waiting for her to be saved. Not a tale for the faint of heart.

Dark and deliberate

I got this story via the author and this is my voluntary review. This was a very dark story and the narrator really made it come to life. all of the details in the story will make you want to make sure all of your doors are locked and your alarm system is on. If you want a story to scare you then here you go.

Didn’t see that coming

A dark story, but written well. Kept me engaged throughout. I was surprised by the ending, but not really. In a psycho thriller one always expects the unexpected. Great narration. Ms. Frederick brings the characters to life.

Very dark read!

I am Elle definitely keep me on edge while listening to it. This is a story about a child that grew up with her terribly abusive father. It’s a very dark read with so much physical, mental and sexual abuse I found it very hard to continue listening to but also couldn’t stop till the very end. The writing and details throughout the audiobook along with this narrator Lia Frederick held me captive and kept me searching, grasping for answers along with Elle and the detective, hoping for something good to come out of this hell she had been living. It’s just not the ending I was desperately hoping for, and I’ll just say this book is very very dark and definitely not for everyone but it is what it is...as the saying goes.
