A good introduction to Hygge Living and Lifestyle

I was sent this audiobook series for an honest review.

There are a lot of books out there on minimalism, most notably the Marie Kondo book from a few years ago.

They say that hipsters and millennials are the front-runners of the need for minimalism in their life.

This is not true.

I'm a 41-year-old male that will be turning 42 this year. I am not in the category of millennial nor a minimalist person. I do try and take what information I can do to be happier and more productive in my life, and this book follows the Danish form of minimalism called ”hygge”.

Hygge is geared toward what makes you happy and keeping tabs on what is important in life. It also has some ties to minimalism, and this book talks about ways of making your living space happy and minimalistic for purpose, rather than for need.

The only downside I had to this series as I felt it was presented backward. I feel they should have presented the book on hygge living first and then how to incorporate it into your home second. Other than that, it was a soothing and informative audiobook.

I feel I will try to incorporate more of this in my life.

Hygge Concepts!

Hygge at Home and Living: 2 Manuscripts: A Simple Guide To Embrace the Danish Art of Happiness, Live a Balanced Life and Be Happy and Healthy in Your Daily Life

Having the two books combined into one recording is convenient. A good value. Here are my reviews of the two books:

Hygge Home
The book goes into depth about incorporating Hygge in your home. There is a lot of information to process so you will want to relisten to the book many times as you work through decluttering, organizing, and making more of a happy home. This will really help on my journey! Nicely read by the narrator.
------
Hygge Living
This book gives you an overall view of Hygge, Including but not limited to:

Decluttering and how to fit it in your schedule, not having too many possessions, determining which are unnecessary items.

Comfort for the home and the importance of room lighting.

Puting balance in your life, finding joy in simple things, mindfulness and being in the moment, choosing experiences that nurture you.

I will be relistening many times. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

create your sanctuary

This is great as it goes deeper than the intro to Hygge living. It goes through various examples of how to decide on objects and even lighting in your home to create a peaceful environment. this goes room by room which is great. the benefits of how it will improve your relationships and work life and personal life are huge. I highly recommend to listen to this with notepad and ready to identify different rooms in your home that you can adjust.

Never heard of Hygge before but was interested

Gave it a shot and was not disappointed. I definitely took away a few things and excited to further improving my life. It's not big changes but little changes that add up to something big

A thoughtful guide to home and life

Hygge at Home and Living is a fitting guide for the concept, presented with warmth and a sense of efficiency. I think the entire concept of Hygge starts to feel like an affirmation of things you already know, but perhaps haven't put together fully. Hygge takes sensible notions about making one's home and surroundings ergonomically efficient while never losing sight of comfort and a sense of welcome. There were aspects of Hygge that caught me by surprise, like the effort to find a new home for things when possible.

The narration was well recorded and always intelligible, though I found a few words oddly pronounced ("ascertain" comes to mind), but never too distracting.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Not just minimalism

Hygge living is about a lot more than just cutting down your possessions, it is about the mindset in gaining the most joy in all areas of your life. The first book in this set focuses on gaining the most joy from each room in your house, from the space to the lighting. The primary lesson is that there is no right or wrong apply the lessons as much as you feel will bring you peace and joy in your home

Book two takes hygge living and applies it to your lifestyle, reducing and organizing everything from your workplace environment to your social media presence. Hygge is all about cutting through the myth that more makes you happy, and instead find joy in owning less and make the most of your favorites.

Matyas J. does a good job narrating and makes hygge living an easy listen through.

I would recommend this book to anyone not just looking to clear out some clutter but to help form a different mindset in how to have less stress and gain more joy through their home space and lifestyle.

Great book

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

For someone who is looking to start purging and minimizing my life style, this was a great book to listen to.. It came at the right time for me.

This is a 2 book set and each book has so much information. This will be re-listen to many times. It basically breaks down a not so cumbersome job of getting rid of your clutter and keeping the things that mean much to you, or keeping things that have purpose.. The Hygge Danish Art of Happiness gives good directions They used IKEA as an example, and that was an AH HA Moment!

Highly recommend this listen. The narration was very good as well
