Summary

Hurlbut's Story of the Bible has its roots in the old custom of parents telling their children stories from the Bible. One of those parents who kept this custom particularly alive and meaningful was Dr. Jess Lyman Hurlbut. Like many great works of literature, the stories that make up this book were told and retold innumerable times before being set down on paper.

Excellent Bible stories!

These stories are faitful for the original stories in the Bible. Even the difficult ones have been included but explained in the way that children can understand them correctly (e.g. why some people in old testament times had to lose their life after doing wrong). This is a great tool for refreshing Bible knowledge even for adults. Pleasanty read.

Any additional comments?

I bought this book so I could teach my daughter. It is'nt really for small children. I would suggest older teenagers. I found interesting for myself even as it Tells the bible from the old testament very clearly from the beginning and I got a better overview. It would be very good for someone wishing to learn about the bible from the beginning or someone who had'nt read it at all. A good introduction easily understood which would help someone understand the whole bibical story. Though earlier stories ok, but it gets more difficult as you go on, therefore I would only recommend to older children or teenagers. Even adults who want something not heavy to absorb. Like me!
