Summary

To this day, it is said that the descendants of the Fae left behind still wait for the return of the Seer and guardians....

As a young teenager, Victoria is sent to live with an aunt and uncle with a sinister and deadly secret. For over five years, she has taken harsh punishments from the hands of her evil aunt and uncle, who have a craving for the blood of the Fae.

Now a young adult, Victoria will come up against the biggest threat of her life to fulfill a prophecy and find the one that history has destined her to be with, a Fae Prince who never expected to be made a prisoner by vampires. Victoria and the Prince must find a way to connect the bond between them before the people of the Fae are lost, and Victoria and the Prince lose their soul to the darkness.

Charming

What does Alex Hyde-White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He brings a calm, centered, focused and soothing quality to his narration. Very pleasant voice. Sometimes he sounds a bit like John Hurt :) His cockney accent is pretty good, too.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It has a charming feel of old-fashioned storytelling to it.

Any additional comments?

The writing has a straightforward quality that works very well for the audio format. It feels like someone is sitting down and telling me a story. The setting is kept fairly vague, which adds to the legendary feeling of it.
The story does jump about a bit tonally. It feels a bit Narnia-like at first, then takes a darker turn. If you don't have a problem with that, it is quite enjoyable.

Fairytale characters without a decent storyline

Would you try another book written by Geraldine Allie or narrated by Alex Hyde-White?

No

What was most disappointing about Geraldine Allie’s story?

Lack of believable characters. The flow of the book was more about telling you the history than about any believable story. Characterisations were poor. Statements such as something had indeed changed - blah, blah with no real reason for the statement. too simplistic by far.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Odd stilted delivery. Pauses in odd places. Odd voices for the characters. A mix of south London for some of the baddies with a mid-American for others.

OK but needs more detail

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It's far too short. It's a novella, not a book. It could easily be twice the length just by adding some detail and fleshing out the cardboard characters. It reads like a synopsis. I kept waiting for the proper story to begin.

Did Alex Hyde-White do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

He was OK. He has a good voice but I was puzzled and a bit put off by the very strange phrasing, and odd pauses in the middle of sentences. He differentiated between the characters well.

Did Hunters Moon inspire you to do anything?

It certainly doesn't inspire me to listen to the next book. Which is a shame, because potentially, this could be a good series. I didn't hate it, it was just a bit forgettable.
