About this listen

THE COVEN IS BACK in HUMAN RITES, the spectacular, hotly anticipated conclusion to Juno Dawson’s SUNDAY TIMES NUMBER ONE bestselling HER MAJESTY’S ROYAL COVEN series.

The Coven is reunited but broken…

Niamh is back from the dead … but she hasn’t come back alone. Elle mourns a son she never had. Ciara languishes in a prison for witches. And Leonie reels from a very unexpected surprise.

Five very different witches with one thing in common: they were unwittingly chosen by the dangerously charming Lucifer, the demon king of desire, to fulfil a dark prophecy.

But Lucifer has deadly offer for fledgling witch Theo: help him and her coven – her family – will be spared as the rest of humanity perishes in a hellish new reality. Save the ones she loves? Or save the world? The choice is hers…

The final confrontation between good and evil is about to commence in the spectacular conclusion to the insatiable Her Majesty’s Royal Coven.

Critic reviews

MORE PRAISE FOR HER MAJESTY’S ROYAL COVEN

‘Superb and almost unbearably charming’

THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW

‘Talk about a gut punch of a novel. …A provocative exploration of intersectional feminism, loyalty, gender and transphobia [that] invites readers into an intricately woven web of magic, friendship, and power’

THE NERD DAILY

‘A shimmering, irresistible cauldron’s brew of my favourite things: a thrilling, witchy plot; a diverse, compelling, and beautifully drawn cast; complex relationships with real heart; laugh-out-loud banter; and the kind of dazzling magic I wish existed. You won’t be able to put it down’

Lana Harper, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of PAYBACK’S A WITCH

‘Dawson, in an impressive flex, uses the rules of the fantasy genre to make a statement about people of colour and LGBTQ individuals and how organizations can exclude and ignore them. Readers who enjoy witches and watching change ripple through a culture will enjoy this series’

BOOKLIST (starred)

‘Dawson's conversational, matter-of-fact tone calls to mind writers like Neil Gaiman and Diana Wynne Jones; it's at times funny, at others heartbreaking, but always perfectly calibrated…A thoughtful entry into the witch canon that intrigues and challenges as much as it delights’

BOOKPAGE

‘Look, if the idea of a story about a group of girls living in an alternate England and working for a centuries-old secret government bureau of witches doesn’t grab you immediately, I don’t know what to tell you’’

PASTE

‘Cleverly constructed…an exciting new direction for Dawson. Readers will be eager for the next instalment’

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

‘Readers who love a big fight between good and evil, who enjoy seeing magic in the everyday world, and those who like their heroine’s journeys to include all facets of heartbreak will savour the cut and thrust of this battle’

LIBRARY JOURNAL

'Dawson played a blinder with this one'

I adored listening to the final book in the series and everyone seemed to be served well by the endings they had. I love Nichola Coughlan's narration, the characters and the conplex plot; even tricky bits like time travel were interwoven perfectly. Thank you Juno Dawson for gifting us all of these books and your amazing ideas.

Fantastic story, great endings all round

There isn't very much I can write as a review without giving anything away.....
So let's just say that this book ends the story perfectly. I actually cried!

What An End!

I loved the first 2/3 of this book. Then it jumped the shark. I HATED IT. I put it down with about 5hrs left and walked away. 3wks later I came back too it. Still grumbling over the twist, I finished it in 2 sessions. I'm glad I did, wonderful ending that landed perfectly. Sad it's over, but glad it happened.

Jumped the Shark but it works

Nichola reads these stories in such a brilliant way, the stories are well written and you fall in love with the characters.
The editing of this installment needs to be checked as there is a part where you can hear and outtake/ movement and Nichola talking with someone else, did make me chuckle though.

Great book series

The narrator Nicola drops character and talks to the recordist a few times. It's charming as she comments on having to sit very still as they've given her a creaky chair.

listen out for a couple of editing glitches
