delicious guide

Not only did I learn a lot from this book about writing romance novels, I also was fascinbated with the actual story she used as an example. That is truly a Happy Ever After. Great book.

This was AMAZING! Loved the story and loved the advice. Victorine explains her thinking process so clearly I can’t wait to apply it to improving my own writing. I would recommend this book to anybody wanting to understand how to construct a sweet romance.

Not the best for Plotting, but the rest is Great!

As a professional ghostwriter with many years under my belt, I thought it would be interesting to pick up this book and see what it had to offer. I was very pleasantly surprised! This, to clarify, is my first audiobook, so I can't rate the narration too much compared to others, but as far as book content, here are my thoughts to help anyone who might be on the edge about buying it:

Cons-- I'll start with the bad. The only thing I wish this book did better was the plotting section. I thought it was somewhat lacking, but then again, I am a professional and I expected something a little more geared towards my experience level. For a beginner, there is certainly nothing wrong with it. If you want a personal recommendation, check out Holly Lisle's Create a Plot Clinic (or the mini course) if you are looking for a more in-depth plotting system.

Pros-- There are way more pros than cons for this book. I thought the rest of the book was spot-on. Though it didn't go into as much detail as some, it provided a lovely amount of knowledge and it felt almost like a motivational speech. There are no worksheets here. This is great for getting started or getting finished. I in particular liked the way that the setting was described. As someone with a lot of experience under my belt, I was worried about it coming off as too basic and boring, but I think it truly is something that anyone, from a first timer to a long-time professional, could enjoy.

In conclusion, I'd recommend buying this book

a rewarding experience for me.

This is why audiobooks like this matter. It’s when my brain has the power to digest things, but I don’t have the ability to hold a book at the moment. Listening to this guide has been a rewarding experience for me.
