This is one of those books that you will hear people talking about and this is also one of those books that it took me 30 years to get round to reading. I wish that I had done so earlier. This book has greatly improved my outlook on life and I can handle situations in a far slicker and more helpful way than before. excellent book, I would recommend it to everyone.

    True Classic

I read this originally well over 30 years ago, and it is one of the books that has profoundly influenced my life. The essence is simply the golden rule: Do as to others as you would be done by. In a world where every one is (whether we like to admit it or not) out for themselves, it is still optimal to be loving and co-operative if you understand that life is essentially win-win: we gain ourselves by giving to others what they most want. And if they only give us back 80% of what they get, we are still both better off, because a lot of what we want (recognition, respect, affection) is FREE. So once this 'enlightened self-interest' gets a hold, out of the crooked stuff that man is made of, we find...we can all be happy! Read it, DC explains it better than I do.

Read every 10 years for an optimal life

This is no joke. I started this book being very cynical thinking you can have anecdotal tales that prove anything, and really this is such a "dated" book that it was probably a mistake buying it ...but something struck a chord as it is really well narrated and so I decided to put it to practice.

...at the risk of sounding like an anecdote from from the book .... I had recently been missold something at a large retail store and had been back 3 times, and got no joy. So, I wrote a letter looking at it from their point of view rather than mine. My usual letters would have been stern and objectionable and damning of their customer services, and usually I'd get back a response just as challenging, and this goes on for a while until I give up, or win the argument. Anyway, usuing the approach in this book which is so easy to follow, two days later, a phone call, with an apology, and a refund for £109...sorted. I tell you - I'm bought on this. Its also helped me settle a dispute with an awkward colleague who loves to argue. I settled the debate in one email - to my satisfaction - as opposed to 6 or 7 which it would usually take.

It's read in a very listen-able format and I echo the sentiments of the majority of reviews on here - listen to this - it will change your outlook on human behaviour, and take it from me...it works.

You see results - fast !!!

I honestly do wish I had read this years ago! Every parent, teacher, manager, supervisor- in fact every human being should read this book. I wonder how many relationships would have been saved if I had read this book as a young adult.

Wish I'd read this years ago

I was attracted to the book as I wanted a better understanding of people for my job. I certainly didn't expect that it would change my whole approach to relationships, both Business and personal. Using the techniques suggested I have saved money, received more praise/thanks than I used to, improved both work and personal relationships, and have reduced my own frustration & stress. If people baffle you, or you don't get what you want from them - then read this book.

If you apply it, then the advice really does work

This is a great book not only for the subject matter, but also the excellent narration.
While this book was written several decades ago, the principles are still as relevant now as they were back then. Some may say some of what Carnegie writes is common sense, but one could say the same thing about many self help books.

I have used many of the tips and techniques in the book and am enjoying a more comfortable time at work. Well worth a try!

    Everyone should listen!

Excellent book audio version superb read this book on a number of occasions and will always remain an all time classic in my opinion! Simple techniques but how many times do we forget to use them? I certainly forget so it's important to refresh every now and then. So well written and in my top 5 books! Anyone that wants to improve at work or in their personal lives I highly recommend this book! Ultimate classic!

    Take a Bow Dale Carnegie!

    King of self development

Dale's writing is engaging and he litters his works with countless anecdotes, mostly recorded from people he has met or researched. The advice in this book is mostly common sense that perhaps needs the reinforcement he offers together with the justification and explanations. Although the messages could easily be abridged to perhaps thiry minutes, the stories of experience and learning are highly enjoyable and help you to retain the information. This is the one audio book I recommend to almost anyone who asks my opinion.

Simply the best self-help audio book I've found

A tru classic that I wish I had in my hands a long time ago.

    Just loved it.

This is one of those classic books that might have a life-changing effect on you. As a motivational material, it doesn't rely on fancy and marketing-based techniques that might seem artificial. Dale Carnegie mostly uses a basic ideology to help the reader, mostly based on his own experience and on successful people's life stories. Perhaps it is due to this level of authenticity that makes these Carnegie books essential. They might have been followed by a whole genre of self-help books with questionable use, but when Carnegie almost single-handedly created the genre, he had to rely on advise that really influenced people. It was actually surprising to discover, how many successful friend of mine admitted to have a strong influence from Carnegie's books. Please, for your own sake, read them both!

Good book, SHAME ON THE PRICING!
