Story
Anne Wynter's job as governess to three highborn young ladies can be a challenge - in a single week she finds herself hiding in a closet full of tubas, playing an evil queen in a play and tending to the wounds of the oh-so-dashing Earl of Winstead. After years of dodging unwanted advances, he's the first man who has truly tempted her, and it's getting harder and harder to remind herself that a governess has no business flirting with a nobleman. Daniel Smythe-Smith might be in mortal danger, but that's not going to stop the young earl from falling in love.

Story
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbours for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband...someday. There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest heir to the earldom, but he's arrogant, annoying and she's absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can't stand the sight of him, either.

Story
Honoria Smythe-Smith, the youngest daughter of the eldest son of the Earl of Winstead, plays the violin in the annual musicale performed by the Smythe-Smith quartet. She's well aware that they are dreadful. In fact, she freely admits (to her cousins) that she is probably the worst of the bunch. But she's the sort who figures that nothing good will come of being mortified, so she puts on a good show and laughs about it.

Predictable but very funny and entertaining
I must confess that I love the narration from Rosalyn Landor more than the stories by Julia Quinn, nevertheless How to Marry a Marquis is very enjoyable and entertaining despite of being a bit predictable. It is no literary masterpiece, but is very funny. Even though I guessed the whole plot almost from the first page, it still made chuckle many times. I listened to it in record time so enjoyable it was.

Excellent narrator
Very funny beautiful well written storytelling escapism. What a surprise ending. The narrator's voice cleverly brings the characters to life. I am always amazed how she is able to use her voice for the male characters and make them sound so authentic and convincing. I have become a great fan of both the author and voice actor.

A very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable read
I’ve listened to this on audible at least three times. An excellent and enjoyable listen. Well narrated which had me gripped right from the start. Good story line, I’m a true romantic so this story fed my addiction to a tee. So much so, that I’ve read further stories from Julia Quinn with the same narrator.

A book of two halves
Really enjoyed the first half of this book until the hero suddenly became a misogynist caveman. Heroine the victim of a sexual assault yesterday? It's fine to creep up behind her and grab her, she won't be at all frightened. Heroine says no and refuses to leave the room with you? Just pick her up and carry her off, ignore anything she says because No doesn't really mean No, does it? I really liked James to begin with and then he acted in a way that made me feel really uncomfortable. Shame this was written by a woman.

The book is one of Julia Quinn's best, however the performance of it here wasn't for me. The mispronunciation of Marquis didn't help and the voices of the two main characters didn't sound quite right.
