In his brand-new book, bestselling author & award-winning adventurer Ross Edgley details the science, psychology and history of heroism, uncovering what drives ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

*With a foreword from Chris Hemsworth*

Written during his historic 1,000-mile (1,600-km) swim around the entire coast of Iceland, the book follows Edgley as he battles Arctic storms, active volcanoes and one of the largest hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic - a journey that moves through Nordic mythology and modern neuroscience to reveal one of the most powerful weapons any human can wield against adversity and suffering: purpose.

Drawing on pioneering research within neuropsychology, ancient sagas and lived experience at the edge of human endurance, How to Hero shows how resilience can be built, trained and weaponised for the moments when life gets hard. We are all, in some form, on a hero's journey. The monsters may be internal, the battles unseen, but the path has always been there - waiting to be remembered. You just have to answer the call.

I believe that having Ross read this to you is better than reading it yourself, his enthusiasm in the highs and hearing his voice deepen in the lows really adds to this already great book.

Another masterpiece from Ross

I'm not an extreme endurance athlete or adventurer but I love reading books like this to see how far humans can push their limits. This is a mammoth saga of unbelievable endurance, hardship and the battling of sea monsters, which will last the ages. It is a book to inspire people who are destined for greater things but may have lost their way. It's a book to share with all of our sons to ignite the fire within.

A book for all sons

As a swimmer looking for anything swimming related to listen to stumbled across your book ‘the art resilience’ and loved it, I listened to it twice back to back. I am only a few hours into you new book and I can tell you already I will already be listening to this book again 🤩

Narrated with such detail, passion and enthusiasm I feel like I am on the boat with you, getting a front row seat experience of your new challenge. From the taste of the salt water, the freezing temperatures of the sea to the deep heart ache you feel of the loss of your father and to the race against the clock to complete the challenge to make of your baby dead line.

Not to mention the volume of research into Iceland 🇮🇸 , the Norse gods and its culture.Sports science, diet and nutrition and a whole lot more.

Ross as always bringing is charm and humour in every chapter.
